The company was initially hosted as a hobby and hosted only a few sites for his friends. In 2003, the company officially acquired the A2 Hosting name and started its expansion in offering services beyond a hobby. The name came from Ana Arbor - the town in which it was founded.

Today has data centers around the world and its services are distributed globally.
