Rocky views, decent guides, messy delivery

the mountains were exactly why I booked — scenery, fresh air, great photo spots. The two guys leading us were solid, knowledgeable and kept spirits up on the trail, so I did enjoy large parts of the trip. That said, the whole thing felt a bit sloppy behind the scenes and that stuck with me afterward. I went on this trip to unplug from long work weeks and to get some solid hiking done, and while I mostly succeeded, the logistics kept getting in the way. The worst part for me was the communication breakdown between the booking rep and the on-the-ground guide. I had specifically ordered halal/kosher and sugar-free meals for health reasons (I filled forms, emailed, talked to Alex) and that never reached the crew — I ended up having to eat things I try to avoid and got hungry more than once. A vegan traveler in our group had similar problems. Campsites were another issue: we were switched twice and both spots were noisy (generator, and later a railroad that ran all night), and the bathrooms were inconveniently far, especially at the first site. The hike itself was tougher than we were told — not a beginner stroll. Small things the company could fix: better handoff about diets, more considerate campsite choices, clearer difficulty ratings. I still loved the Rockies and the leaders did a good job, but if you need special meals or quiet camps, be cautious.

Almost made it — but not quite

what if the timeline was optimistic?
After ordering, my doubts didn’t vanish — they morphed. At first I told myself, “Okay, maybe there’s a little delay, but it’ll still arrive in time.” Then the tracking trickled in slower than expected, and the shipping origin turned out to be different than I’d been told. I’d been told it would ship locally; turns out it left from across the coast. That was the point where the nervousness came back full force. I reached out, asked about the timing, and was told options like a “possible refund” or a “processing fee” if I canceled. That felt off — why a fee if the item was drop-shipped and they weren’t physically handling it? It’s the sort of thing that makes you feel like you’re being nickel-and-dimed for something you didn’t even sign up for.
When the package finally showed up, it did what I needed it to do. The unit itself worked fine — not flawless, but solid enough for the trip requirements. It powered what I needed without drama, and that was a relief. Still, that relief was mixed with frustration. My original trip ended up being canceled because the delivery date slipped past the one I needed. Had it arrived when Jonas said it would, I’d have been good. So yes, good product performance, very disappointing timing. I kept thinking about how a different warehouse or just honest timing info could’ve made a world of difference.
Price was another sore spot. I noticed the product was cheaper elsewhere, and when I brought it up, the seller “matched” the price after some back-and-forth. To be fair, they did end up lowering it to what I’d seen elsewhere, so in the end I didn’t overpay. But the path there felt rough — feels a little like you have to be loud about it to get the fair price, and there were hints of upselling and unnecessary fees floating around. That left a bad taste even though the final number was reasonable.
Emotionally, this is a mixed bag. My initial doubts about honesty and shipping logistics were (sort of) validated — I did not get what I was told about origin and exact timing. On the other hand, the product itself delivered on its basic promise, and the partial price match meant I wasn’t left paying a premium. So the doubts about product quality eased up once I had it in hand, but my doubts about communication and customer care only grew.
Would I recommend them? Maybe, but with a big caveat: only if you’re not on a hard deadline and if you double-check shipping specifics before buying. Ask upfront where the item ships from, get explicit cutoff dates, don’t just rely on upbeat assurances. If you need something for a trip or other time-sensitive situation, shop elsewhere or at least have a backup plan. The seller isn’t entirely terrible — the gear is okay — but the way they handled timing, the mixed messaging, and the weird fee talk keeps this from being a place I’d trust blindly next time.
So yeah, useful product, frustrating service. The doubts I had about the unit itself mostly went away after I used it, but the doubts about the people and the process? Those stayed. Learn from my experience: push for clear answers, and don’t assume salesy promises mean the clock will actually be met.
