deluxe baskets, drinks for everyone, boarding at 9, decent seating, live music. In reality we stood outside in the cold for over an hour (arrived on time, boarded near 10), there were no baskets or meals and staff shrugged when we asked. No soft drink offered for our 12-year-old, which felt odd. Dress code was basically ignored, seating was cramped and no proper tables, and the vibe toward the end wasn’t great — music and staff behavior didn’t match the brochure. Golden Tours did apologize after I complained and after a few emails they offered a 50% refund, which we accepted to close things out. Credit where it’s due: they did respond and eventually fixed part of it, but it was a lot of back-and-forth for something you pay good money for. We’ve had smoother boat trips with other companies, so maybe my expectations were high. Disappointing for a family night, and I’d warn others to double-check what’s actually included before booking.
Not worth the hype, sadly
this was a bust for our family NYE plan. We booked the Celestial Cruise because my son has been hyped about seeing the London fireworks from a boat for months — it was supposed to be the kind of memory we do every year — and it just didn’t deliver. The listing promised a deluxe basket with bubbly and bagels, live music, no jeans/sneakers, comfy seating, and a 9pm boarding. Reality was different. No basket appeared, staff seemed puzzled when we asked, and our 12‑year‑old didn’t even get a soft drink unless we bought one. We stood out in the cold longer than expected; boarding didn’t start until nearly 10pm. The dress code felt ignored — lots of sneakers and jeans — and seating was cramped with almost no proper tables. Music started okay but slipped into odd choices and the vibe got weird toward the end. We did get a partial refund after a few back-and-forth emails (they offered 50% and we accepted), so at least they tried to make amends. Still, it ruined part of the night and felt overpriced for what we actually got. If you’re planning a family tradition or trying to make NYE special, temper expectations or look elsewhere — I’ll be more cautious next year, that’s for sure.
Nice route, rough execution
I loved the idea of the open-top London tour but this company handled it so clumsily that I probably wouldn’t book with them again — especially if you need any mobility help. We needed the tour because my husband uses a cane and walking long distances was off the table; we thought a guided bus would be perfect to see a lot without the strain. That’s the why right up front.
We bought tickets through chat since the website was glitchy (credit where it’s due, the agent was helpful), showed up 15 minutes early and asked a staff member, “This is the one with the live guide, right?” He shrugged, checked his phone, said yeah, and we got on. At departure time there was no guide. First stop I asked the driver — guide didn’t turn up — and the suggestion was to walk back to the start and wait an hour for the next one. Uh, no. My husband can’t do a detour like that, so we ended up taking a cab back to the hotel and losing the afternoon.
Customer service acknowledged the problem but only offered a 15% refund as a “goodwill gesture,” later nudging to 20% after I pushed back. That felt stingy given we paid full price and had extra taxi costs. I was honestly frustrated and a bit annoyed, but not bitter — I still enjoyed spotting a few landmarks from the bus and the concept is great. Just be cautious: the staff at the stop seemed unsure, and their compensation was weak. If you’re mobile and willing to roll with glitches, you might be okay. If you need accessibility or a guaranteed guided experience, look elsewhere or make sure you get clear confirmation ahead of time.Rough Ride, Great Views (Mostly)
staff at the start seemed unsure and the live guide didn’t show up for our trip. We were told to walk back to the meeting point and wait an hour for the next one — which wasn’t doable for us — so we ended up taking a cab and losing the afternoon. Customer service response was slow and the first refund offer was tiny; after arguing we got a slightly better gesture but it still felt low given the extra expenses. So yeah, not perfect, and it left a bad taste at the time. Still, if you’re mainly after the views and the convenience of staying seated, it works. My tip: confirm the live guide ahead of time, ask about accessibility needs, and keep screenshots of chats and bookings. For us the positives — comfy seat, clear route, friendly driver — balanced out the hassle enough that I’d tell a friend to try it, but with a warning. I’d go again only after clarifying the guide situation first; that little extra planning makes a big difference.
Last-minute cancellation mess
Do not book with them — they canceled our escorted Paris trip and gave almost no refund. I had booked a mother-daughter getaway with my 16-year-old, paid CAD 1400, expected a full refund when they pulled the plug. Rep promised one thing, then offered about CAD 445. Pretty gutted, and now stuck looking for a replacement. Really disappointed.
mostly worth it
felt a bit rushed at each stop, but overall friendly and knowledgeable, so yeah — I'd go again, probably.
Solid one-day run
it delivers a lot in one day. We hit Bath (Roman Baths), Stonehenge and Windsor with enough time to actually see things without rushing. Bruce and Sokol ran a tight, calm operation, punctual and clear, which matters when you cram stops into a single day. I pick tours like this on short trips to get highlights — simple, efficient, and oddly satisfying for me.
Surprisingly solid day
Thumbs up — worth it. I was skeptical at first; my friend had shown me the brochure and I only booked because it sounded busy. Saw Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath. Bruce, our guide, knew his stuff, kept us laughing and moving. Coach captain Kulvinder drove like a pro and kept things smooth. Small hiccups, but overall a cozy, fun day.
Early start, big payoff
Sat on the coach before sunrise, thinking I might regret the early start, but it turned out great. I first heard about this day trip from a roommate at the hostel and figured I'd try it - glad I did. You get enough time to wander Bath's Roman Baths, walk around Stonehenge, and peek inside Windsor without feeling rushed. Bruce guided us smoothly and Sokol drove like a pro. Felt relaxed all day, would recommend.
Not what the website sells
this was not a guided, worry-free day — it was basically a bus route that drops you where you need to be and expects you to fend for yourself. I booked it because my wife and I needed Spanish commentary (we're not confident in our English) and I have a bad lower back, so we wanted a tour that would keep walking to a minimum and give us clear timing and help if anything went wrong. That’s why we picked the package with Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, the Cotswolds and Warwick Castle — tickets included, official guide, the whole advertised deal. In reality, the "official guide" talked through the itinerary from the coach, did a quick spiel about each stop while we were driving, and then basically told us, "See you at pickup" and left us to it.
Half a great day — useful if you know what you’re signing up for
I was sitting on the coach, earbuds half in, when the guide started telling us about Warwick Castle like it was a bedtime story — clear, lively, a little dry at times, and honestly I was hooked. That’s the weird thing about the whole trip: parts of it were really enjoyable, and other parts left me thinking, “Wait, is this a tour or just a bus with commentary?” I’d booked a Spanish-language tour that said it included Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, the Cotswolds and Warwick Castle with tickets to the castle and Shakespeare’s birthplace. On paper it sounded like a full guided experience. In practice, the guide talks you through the stops while you’re still on the coach, then drops you off with a time to be back and that’s it — no maps, no audio guides, no on-site escort. So, yeah, it’s basically a hop-on, explore-on-your-own setup after the coach talk.
Castle, towns, and university tour
I had the most amazing time exploring a castle, charming little towns, and even a fancy university. It was so awesome and enjoyable! Grace and Mario were hands down the best tour guides I've ever had. Grace was so knowledgeable and kind, while Mario was hilarious and drove the bus like a pro. They truly made the whole experience unforgettable. Huge thanks to Grace and Mario!
London tour disappointment
We took a tour of London, but we were really disappointed because the buses kept ending their routes early. We didn't get to see Trafalgar Square or Buckingham Palace properly, which was a bummer. We had to change buses so many times, and it was getting annoying. But then we met this amazing driver named Nazareth de Sousa. He was a total lifesaver! He went out of his way to help us, even using his break time to wait with us. He really went above and beyond and saved our vacation. It was like he was our hero!
Afternoon Tea Bus Tour
My Afternoon Tea bus tour in London was just lovely. Even though the weather was dreary, the staff and whole experience really lifted our spirits. My wife needed a Gluten-Free option and they took care of her with no problem. Daya, Nilsson, and our driver Namud were so attentive and made sure we had a fantastic time. I definitely recommend this tour to anyone in London, it was a wonderful experience that we really loved. The music playlist also added a nice vibe to the whole atmosphere. Thanks for a memorable afternoon!
Windsor bus tour
The Windsor bus tour was a huge letdown, to be honest. The bus only came by once an hour, which was pretty surprising since it was during half term. And get this, they didn't even give us headphones or a map - we had to figure it out on our own. The bus itself was a mess, old and dirty, definitely in need of a good scrub. The upstairs covered part was full of leaves and twigs from trees, so we had to huddle there to stay dry in the rain. The commentary was a joke, just elevator music with hardly any real info. And when there was some interesting stuff, it was always way too late. Like, we had already passed what they were talking about. Can you believe some of the facts were over a year and a half old? Apparently the queen had been around recently - total fail there. Luckily, I knew enough about Windsor to fill in the blanks for my daughter. But for newbies, it would have been a waste of time, no learning or sightseeing to speak of.
Day tour experience
I didn't get to see or learn a ton about the country on my day tour, but the guide and driver were super nice which really made the trip more fun. The guide, Ei Li (I think that's how you spell it?), seriously knew her stuff and gave us some great info about the country and the places we went. Even though it was a short tour, she made it really enjoyable and educational.
2 hour open top bus tour with guide William
The 2-hour open-top bus tour with our guide William was absolutely amazing for our group of three! William was so friendly and knowledgeable, which made the tour really enjoyable and engaging. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to check out all the cool sights in the city.
London hop on/off bus tour
I wasn't very impressed with the London hop on/hop off bus tour I took. The audio guide they provided was mostly just boring elevator music, with only a few comments here and there that didn't give much detail. It felt more like riding a regular bus with an open top rather than a fun and informative tour. Some of the bus drivers were friendly, but others were pretty rude. The buses didn't come as often as I was hoping, but the handy app they had did help us keep track of when the next one was coming. We made the mistake of starting at Marble Arch, and had to go through Paddington and along Euston Road, which wasn't very exciting. It would have been much better to start near St. Paul's Cathedral for a more enjoyable experience.
Tour Windsor, Bath, & Stonehenge
I had such a blast on the Windsor, Bath, & Stonehenge tour! Our tour guide, Bruce, was hilarious and really knew his stuff, and our coach driver, Armando, was super smooth behind the wheel. The ride back felt a little lengthy, but Bruce kept us entertained with jokes and cool facts about the villages we went through. I'd definitely suggest this tour to my loved ones.
Unfulfilled tour booking
I signed up for a tour with this company, and I gotta say I was really let down by the whole thing. Just like a bunch of other folks, I shelled out money for a tour that wasn't at all what was promised. They changed up the plans without even telling us, and we missed out on some key spots. I tried asking for some of my money back, but they said they don't guarantee specific stops and wouldn't give me any kind of refund.
