bad experience with product and support, got refunded through the bank, so lesson learned.
Finally some nursery peace
I remember sitting on the floor surrounded by flat boxes and thinking, oh boy — I really needed these things to be simple. We bought a crib, changing table and dresser because we’re prepping for the baby and, honestly, I have a pretty bad back so I wanted sturdy, ready-to-use pieces. The dresser gave us trouble — a couple of broken bits and one piece jammed, ugh. I called Modern Nursery and that’s when I felt relieved. Lily (and the team) actually picked up, listened, and then did the back-and-forth with the maker for us. They kept telling us what was happening, no radio silence, which was huge. It wasn’t perfect — it took a little longer than I wanted and one replacement part was a tiny hassle — but the follow-through was real. That moment I knew I could relax was when the dresser finally worked and they checked back in. Great products, caring people.
Almost there, but not quite
the finish and style fit the room, and I liked the weight of the unit when it arrived. But using it over the first week revealed a bunch of little annoyances that add up. Drawers don’t sit flush, one won’t close properly, and the soft-close feature felt unreliable from the start. Inside the drawers the wood is rough in spots, which makes me nervous about snagging tiny clothes. There’s also a visible chip on a drawer front that I only noticed later, and there was no anti-tip kit included — which matters when you’ve read about tip-over dangers and want a safe set-up for a baby. Delivery was delayed and white-glove service didn’t feel very white-glove; we had to follow up by email multiple times and then got a couple of how-to videos to “fix” things ourselves. I’m still kind of hopeful — the dresser looks good and I want to like it — but honestly I expected better fit-and-finish and more proactive support.
Unexpectedly smooth setup
I remember sitting on the couch late one night, nursery catalogs spread out, feeling overwhelmed but excited. I had my first baby six months ago and wanted something personal, not the usual big-box stuff. We picked Modern Nursery because they're family-run and actually had the set we wanted when everywhere else was sold out. Their selection leans high-end, which is what we were after, and ordering felt easy enough. But the real standout was the service. At eight months pregnant I couldn't be hauling or assembling furniture. The white-glove delivery hit a snag, and Nina stepped in. She stayed on top of it, called us, even on a Saturday, checked details, rearranged things, and made sure the installers came when it worked for us. That personal touch made all the difference. It wasn't just corporate lines; it felt like someone cared. I've bought from big sites before and ended up with boxes and instructions and me on my own, so this was a pleasant surprise. The pieces look great now, sturdy and all set up, and the room finally feels like a nursery. We'll definitely go back to them for future needs. If you want your delivery handled without drama, give them a shot. Price was reasonable too; not the cheapest, but fair. Small company vibe made me trust them more, honestly, and that's rare
Quietly won me over
they can offer better prices and still be helpful. Occasional no sales tax to my state helped too. Would I recommend them? Yes. I tell new parents about them all the time. My only wish is clearer ETA info for big items — my sleep-deprived brain appreciates predictability. I also worried they'd treat me like a nuisance because I asked about a bed at 3 a.m., but the rep joked with me and made helpful recommendations. The rewards actually add up — little wins. If you're on the fence, try a small order first — that's what I did. Overall I'm relieved and glad I gave them a shot. Nice folks, solid savings, and honest service.
