Almost walked away, but glad I gave it a shot

vague contact info, a handful of sketchy reviews, and one of those fine-print subscription things that make you squint. I’d been burned before by a different online course platform that kept charging me after I thought I canceled, so my guard was up, like way up. Still, I needed a course I couldn’t find elsewhere and thought, alright, one last try.
The first few minutes after ordering felt tense because I kept checking my bank app — paranoid, yeah — but the sign-up itself wasn't complicated. I hit a snag trying to find a clear cancel button and for a hot second I panicked (they do bury some pages, not gonna lie). So I reached out to support. To my surprise someone replied within a day, not a canned line either. They walked me through the settings, helped me stop the recurring charge, and refunded the odd $15 I was worried about. It wasn’t instant magic, but they actually followed up and did what they said they would do.
The course content was decent for the price — practical, not just fluff — and the short videos fit my schedule. I do wish the website had a visible phone number or a straightforward support page, that would’ve eased that initial dread. Still, considering my past experience with another company that ghosted me, this was a breath of fresh air. I kept checking and checking because old habits, but everything settled down and the service team stayed polite and helpful, even when I repeated myself — sorry, I’m a bit wary.
So yeah, I went from "this is totally a scam" to "okay, that actually worked out." I'm relieved and kinda happy I didn’t let fear make the decision for me. If you’re cautious like me, be persistent with support, keep records, and don’t assume the worst right away — sometimes things turn out better than expected.

    Worthwhile, with quirks

I started Shaw Academy about five years ago, fitting lessons into evenings between work and dinner prep — so the platform had to be practical for my busy routine. The content is generally solid and the price is fair; I was actually surprised by how often they update courses. That can be annoying because new modules sometimes appear before you finish, so expect the finish line to move, but it also means the material stays relevant. Instructors know their subjects, though a couple were oddly sarcastic in live sessions and that put me off; I hesitated to ask questions once or twice. On the bright side, customer support is quick and helpful — sometimes they even answer during a class, which saved me when I needed a certification for work. Frequent staff changes make it hard to build rapport with teachers, which is the main downside for me. Still, I’ve been able to apply what I learned to daily projects at my job, and overall it’s good value for practical upskilling if you can handle some inconsistency.

Small doubts, big fix — actually very happy

I'm glad I stayed with them. I paid for a lifetime deal years ago, had a hiccup recently, and support actually sorted it out — which honestly surprised me at first, since I'd been a bit skeptical. Let me explain how it went down. Back in the day I grabbed a Groupon for a photography class and got wrapped up in how personal the live sessions felt. They even gave away a DSLR on-air once (wild), and another time William Eames mentioned a one-time lifetime membership offer. I bit. So yes, I paid for the lifetime access and expected the usual caveats — but over the years they've added a surprising number of courses and stayed true to that promise.
I want to say up front: I've had bad experiences with other online education platforms where things felt very transactional or support ghosted me. That made me wary when Upskillist (formerly Shaw Academy) migrated sites and rebranded. At first I couldn't log in — that was annoying and I admit I grumbled. This isn't the first time I've had login trouble with any service, so I wasn't quick to panic. I poked around, found out they migrated to a new site and changed their name, and then reached out through their support page. The reply I got was clear and practical, walked me through account migration step by step, and it all worked. Smooth, straightforward, no nonsense.
Navigation on the new site is cleaner, too — fewer popup interruptions and no more obnoxious diploma-soliciting banners every five seconds. The classes that originally attracted me were photography-focused, but the platform has branched out a lot since then. That was one of my worries: would they keep adding courses, or would it stay stuck with just a handful? Turns out, they kept adding courses for years, and as a lifetime member I was able to access them all. For someone like me (I'm retired, I learn slowly, and I tend to retake things to really get it), that flexibility matters. Price-wise they do a la carte options and occasional promos; back when I paid there were deals tied to bigger bundles, but I've also seen them offer Masters-level promos later on.
About that Masters course — I did pay in advance for what they advertised as a Masters in Photography and a deal for lifetime memberships for friends. Long story short: they never released the course because it didn't meet their standards. Initially I assumed the worst and wrote a critical review, which in hindsight I shouldn't have done without contacting support first. That was on me. Once I followed up properly, support explained the situation and persuaded me they were refunding my advance payment. That really changed my view. It took a while, sure, and I wish they had proactively notified me back when the course was canceled, but when I contacted them they made it right and refunded the money. Actions speak louder than assumptions.
Another small thing I appreciate: the live-class vibe I enjoyed early on wasn't fake — teachers were engaged, sessions felt personable, and there was a community feel even if you couldn't always join live. The platform now feels more polished but keeps that approachable tone. As someone who uses Upskillist mostly for self-improvement and not college credits, it's easy to recommend for practical learning — hands-on, usable skills, without the fluff. If you care about accreditation, do your own research — I can't vouch for credit transferability.
So yeah, I started skeptical because of the rebrand and a past bad assumption on my part, but their support response and the refund turned my skepticism into genuine satisfaction. The site has evolved, the content has grown, and the membership I paid for years ago still gives me access. I still retake courses when needed, and I'm looking forward to trying some of the newer classes. Minor gripes aside (communication could've been better about that canceled course), the company followed through when I reached out. Upskillist feels like a legit place to learn useful stuff from people who know what they're doing. I'll stick around.

    Halfway satisfied, mostly annoyed

quick refreshers before I opened positions, reminders about risk management, and the occasional deeper revisit when I was testing a new indicator or strategy. That routine — course content + quick access + the trading tools they bundled — made me feel like I’d made a reasonable investment.
I signed up originally for a lifetime offer that included the Ultimate Traders Programme (UTP) and some proprietary tools like the MT4 indicator and Trade Sizer. For months the indicator and toolset became part of my workflow. I’m not a full-time professional, but I do trade most mornings and tinker in the evenings; the tools helped with sizing and consistency, and the seminars were a useful periodic check-in. So when they worked, and when the course pages loaded and the downloads were there, I was satisfied. It’s a mundane kind of satisfaction — not thrilled, not ecstatic — more of a pragmatic “this does what I need” feeling. That’s the tonal anchor for the rest of this review.
Then things changed. A rebrand email arrived saying Shaw Academy had become Upskillist and promising a seamless migration of courses and progress to a new platform. I registered with the same email and expected all five of my courses and the UTP content to appear. Only the Cryptocurrency course made it across. That was a small relief — again that same pragmatic satisfaction — but it quickly turned into frustration because the rest of my paid content disappeared. The MT4 indicator and Trade Sizer stopped being supported and effectively stopped working. I emailed support for weeks. Mostly automated replies, then canned clarifications about separate databases, then a blunt note that several courses had been removed from the repository and were “obsolete.”
What matters here is context: I relied on access to legacy material so I could revisit lessons tied to my real trading habits. Losing access meant I suddenly had gaps right where I use the material — before trades, during backtesting, when checking sizing rules. Upskillist’s suggested solution was to enroll in their currently offered courses, but they didn’t have equivalents to the UTP or the specific trading diplomas I’d used. That’s not a smooth migration. It’s a business decision that affects people who paid for lifetime access and depend on continuity.
Customer service was the low point. The replies started friendly-sounding but remained unhelpful: “register here,” “we keep progress,” “restart on Upskillist,” and finally “these courses are obsolete.” No timeline, no alternative access, no way to download legacy resources I had paid for. There were moments I corrected myself in email threads, tried to be concise, tried to escalate, tried to explain where I used the material in my week-to-week trading, and none of that changed the outcome. That’s disappointing in a dry, factual way.
So the overall picture is mixed. The content itself, when available, was solidly practical and integrated into my daily routine — that’s the satisfaction part. The migration and support failures are the part that’s not fine. I’m not writing this to rant; I’m describing the trade-offs. If you value on-demand video content, concise slides, and practical tools you can drop into a trading workflow, there’s real value here. If you expect continuity after a rebrand, if you bought lifetime access and assume it’s permanent, be cautious. My experience: I’m satisfied with the quality of what I used, especially the crypto course that did migrate, but I’m frustrated that most of what I paid for vanished during a platform switch and that customer support didn’t offer a workable remedy. It’s a usable service in parts, and a letdown in others.

    Online education course

Hey there! I'm a student who's been taking online education courses, and I wanted to share some thoughts on the platform. First off, I think it would be super helpful to have a pause button during classes for emergencies. Life can get pretty hectic, and it would be great to have the option to pause a class if something unexpected comes up.

Also, I think it would be cool if there wasn't a limit on how many classes we can take in a week. Some of us might want to tackle more than 3 classes, like myself, and having the flexibility to do so would really enhance the learning experience.

Lastly, I think the pricing of the courses could be more user-friendly. It would be nice to have clear information on the costs of each course, and maybe the option to have the certificate fee included in the course fee upfront instead of paying extra for it. Just a thought!

    Online course purchase

I bought this course online and man, I was so disappointed with how it all went down. First off, I wanted to cancel my membership, but it was such a pain. I had to call them twice, and let me tell you, each time was a headache. The first person I talked to said they couldn't give me my money back because they were working from home and couldn't use the phones. Then, the next person said they only did stuff through email, which made it really hard for me to get my refund. And to top it off, their website was all about pushing you to buy with those 'one click' buttons and making you feel bad for wanting your money back. It was all just sneaky and frustrating, no doubt about it.

    Online course purchase

After going through some online courses myself, I just wanted to share my experience with the service I used. It's super important to be careful when picking an online education provider because there are some shady websites out there. One big warning sign is if you can't find any contact info or support on their site, which was exactly what happened to me. That kind of lack of transparency can be a bad sign that the company isn't legit. In my situation, I ended up getting charged on my card for more courses without even saying yes to it. When I tried to reach out to them about it, I didn't hear a peep back. It took me a bunch of tries to finally cancel my subscription, and the company was no help at all. It's messed up to see businesses exploiting people who just want to learn and improve themselves. I'd recommend being really careful when you're buying things online.

    Online course subscription

I got scammed by this online course I signed up for. They were charging me a lot every month, promising good stuff, but then wouldn't give me my money back when I asked. I tried talking to them about it, but all they did was offer me a "lifetime subscription" instead of refunding me. It took me forever to figure out what was going on, since the payments were sneaky like that.

    Online learning scam

It's really upsetting that there are still companies like this one that try to trick customers with shady practices. Even with honest reviewers trying to reveal the truth, it looks like this company will do anything to hide their scams. It's frustrating that platforms like Trustpilot can't do more to keep consumers safe from these deceitful tactics. If more folks knew about the reality behind this online learning scam, maybe fewer would fall for the fake promises and waste their time and money.

    Fashion design course

I've only taken a few classes, and honestly, it's been a little disappointing. The teacher seems to think we're not very smart, asking really simple questions like we're kids. I think they could do a better job making the material more interesting and moving quicker. But I did like learning about fashion history, so I think there's room for things to get better.

    Online Course Experience

I really liked being able to access and download the course materials whenever I wanted. Not having a deadline meant I could go over the content without feeling pressured. I also appreciated that the assignments were multiple choice, but it would have been nice to see my completed assignments and scores after. The buy prompt that keeps popping up can get annoying, especially when it automatically processes payments as soon as you enter your payment info. It would be nice to have the option to confirm the payment before it goes through. Because of these issues, I can't give it a full 5-star rating.

I got my study stuff a few days ago, and at first, it worked just fine. But then when I tried to use it again later that day, it wouldn't let me in and told me to buy it again. I reached out to customer service, and in just a few hours, I heard back that there was a tech issue and they fixed my account. I was impressed with how quickly they solved the problem and how friendly they were about it. Huge thanks for making it so simple for me!
