Coffee-taste test gone wrong
polite note, explanation, a little hope. Weeks passed. Then months. I sent screenshots of replies, saved every thread, because it felt like building a paper trail for a mystery novel. The company kept telling me things like “wait until you leave Florida” (as if hard water is a seasonal mood) and recommending random fixes that didn't change a thing. Eventually we moved to Utah — totally different water profile, or so I thought — and surprise, same deal. Same frequent salt refills, same bitter coffee. Not ideal when your morning ritual depends on something that tastes like it survived a chemistry exam.
Customer service, though — that’s where the real plot twist was. At first radio silence. No return labels, no helpful tech walking me through diagnostics, mostly just crickets. I posted about it, followed up, sent order numbers, did the whole responsible-customer routine. When a company ghosted you that long I started to suspect the positive reviews were paid actors or very determined relatives. I kept a running log, and honestly, it started to feel like a small, annoying soap opera. The only person who actually stepped in and made things happen was Amazon — I forwarded all the emails and screenshots, and they agreed to accept the return after six months. Relief doesn’t even begin to cover it. I was ready to stop dragging salt around and to stop making business decisions based on optimism.
Let me be fair: the unit itself looked solid. Installation was fine (I did it myself between laundry and checking tire pressure), and it did something to the water — just not the “I can drink this” kind of something. For dishes and showers it was passable, but coffee and the ancient tea mug? Tragic. The ongoing cost of replacing salt every few days also made me rethink the whole math: maybe cheaper to buy bottled water (not kidding). The company could have avoided all that if they’d replied, offered a replacement, or even been honest about a known defect. Instead it took Amazon’s nudge to get a proper return on the table.
So yeah, I was skeptical, irritated, and a little amused at how stubbornly the problem followed us state to state. But in the end I’m pleased — not with the product — but with how the situation wrapped up once Amazon got involved. If you like predictable customer service and not having to chase replies for months, maybe look elsewhere. If you’re stubborn like me and will document everything and pester the right people, you’ll get there eventually. Also: bring good coffee; it makes the whole ordeal easier to survive.
