monthly subscription plus pricey horses and tack that add up fast. It’s fine if you just want to admire the horse detail — they go full realistic with things like veins and tiny face features — but then they hippo-step around basic player customization. I’ve chatted with people in global who complain about the same thing, so it’s not just me being picky. Also updates lately feel less like updates and more like small side quests or chores for NPCs; sometimes they call that an update and I’m like, really? On the plus side, the community has been helpful and I’ve met a couple people who gave me tips and freebies when I was starting, which was nice. Overall it’s a mixed bag: beautiful horses and atmosphere, clunky human model and pay structure that wears on you after a while. Not dead terrible, but definitely not as caring for players as it used to be.
A pretty mess, but I keep coming back
it looked super kiddie in the trailer, the in-game shop prices made me wince, and the global chat screenshots on Reddit were... alarming. Still, curiosity won. Long story short: some of my doubts melted away, some stayed stubborn as ever.
Small world, big problems
it’s not the safe, kid-friendly place it’s marketed as unless you take extra steps. I recommended it once, then had to warn people afterwards. If the developers fixed moderation and rethought the shop tactics, I’d reconsider. Right now I’d tell parents to be cautious.
Pixel horses, smaller scares, same charm
the game still has that pull, it’s fun, and I keep coming back, but a lot has shifted in ways that bug me — mostly around how things are priced and how some of the darker, weirder bits got softened up. The Halloween and spooky quests used to be genuinely creepy in a good way; now they’re cute crossroads of “we don’t want anyone upset” and “let’s keep it harmless.” I get protecting younger players, but it’s a bummer when the mystery you remember gets stripped for safety reasons rather than tweaked creatively.
Clinic choice
Knew it worked at the clinic demo, told a friend; decent.
Easy app, watch the buttons
Overall pretty happy — just watch the in-app buttons. My daughter dropped her phone and accidentally bought coins while waiting for an update; support hasn't replied yet, but the app itself works fine though.
Charged, no coins
double-check purchases, and good luck.
Fun but paywalled
fun game, but I can't get past the paywall so it kinda feels useless for me. I picked it up to unwind between classes — I'm a broke college student and don't have cash for extras. The gameplay's solid and hooks you, just annoying it's locked behind payments.
Halfway convinced
Mid-match I knew it was good — my friend had shown it to me and the team actually listened
Silent ban, lost cash
I wouldn’t recommend them right now — banned me in March 2025 and support went radio silent. Played since 2013, loved the game but spent real money. I’ve emailed repeatedly with zero reply. Feels shady; I’ll escalate, still pretty annoyed, tbh
Still tripping at the bow
Halfway through the festival I realized the dressage routine still trips at the bow. I started using it about a year ago; my first impression was that controls felt clunky and it would freeze on the trot. After tweaking timings it actually behaves more reliably now—still annoyed it took forever, but usable.
Barn surprise
random strangers and their horses show up in her barn and I can't figure how to kick them out. It’s annoying for her, would help if controls or help were clearer. Still glad she enjoys it.
Nice game, pricey upkeep
I like the game, but it’s too pricey and support doesn't help. I first saw it on the App Store and even recommended it to a friend, so I wanted to love it. Gameplay and horses are nice, nice graphics, but star coins are costly—about $6 for 100—and the mounts cost a lot. Tried contacting support, messaged them, never heard back. Not trashing the game, just wish prices were fair and support actually answered.
Still a fan after a hiccup
double-check the account before buying, and if you slip up, start formal escalation early.
Worth it, but delivery hiccup
Got back into this after a long break — still hooked. The lifetime pack felt worth buying, but account activation dragged and delivery info was confusing. Customer service eventually sorted it out but not quickly. Gameplay is great, though new accounts have button controls instead of the joystick I liked and some tracks are painfully hard. Overall happy but slightly annoyed.
Not what it was
I started playing in 2016 and it felt smart and fair. I came back this year to check updates and the first thing I saw was aggressive microtransactions everywhere, like they flipped a switch and chased cash. Core gameplay feels lighter and rewards are stingy. It's disappointing — not broken, just not the same, so I stopped after a week.
They won't stop charging me
they kept charging my card even after I asked them to close my account, so I’m done with them. I needed the account closed because my old tablet couldn’t run the game anymore and I couldn’t play — figured I’d cancel and be done. I’ve been emailing since November and all I ever got were automated replies with reference numbers, no human answers. Every two months another payment shows up. I called my bank and I’m talking to them now; it’s been exhausting. I get annoyed and a little sad — felt powerless. Customer support replies are basically useless and left me with a bad taste. They just send that auto-ticket thing and then nothing, you know? It's been annoying to deal with and I wouldn't recommend.
Priced out but playable
nice visuals and still fun riding, but the store and economy are a mess. As a star rider you get 100 SC weekly, which sounds generous until a basic hat costs that much and many horses are shoved behind paywalls. They pulled beloved older horses, set some at 300 SC, then pushed new or limited ones near 900 SC. Oddly, some new models look really good — surprised me.
Quiet win after a rocky start
I didn't expect to find a little safe spot in a game after a stressful move and weeks of long shifts. I started playing to unwind, nothing fancy. Early on there were issues — it booted me out of my account and then claimed an update kept me locked. The winter village update also refused to load for me. I emailed support and they said it was a glitch that would sort itself out. It didn't, at first. The pricing model is annoying too; felt pushed to buy star coins and a membership just to see Valedale or buy horses I liked. Still, I got the lifetime Star Rider later and that changed things. The moment I rode into Valedale for real, on a horse I actually owned, I knew I'd made the right choice. It was calm and worth it. I'm glad I stuck with it. The game has flaws, but the core is charming and relaxing.
Small wins, big frustrations
gameplay mechanics still feel solid and the art/music are still pleasant, so there’s value. My biggest gripe is the lack of follow-through from support; I’ve reported issues several times with little result. If the devs focused on fixing the later-quest bugs before adding new content, that would change everything. Or at least make the in-game currency cheaper if they won’t patch quickly — charging $8+ for 100 coins when the coins don’t always register feels off. Still, I’m grateful it didn’t turn out worse; I enjoy the game when it works and I hope they’ll clean up the mess. A little transparency and faster bug fixes would keep me spending and recommending it. For now: fun in parts, frustrating in others — but I’m sticking around because the core is good.
