I’m not recommending CapCut anymore. I used to tell people to try it. I first downloaded it years ago after a coworker showed me a quick edit, and I even encouraged my husband to give it a shot for small projects. It worked fine for short clips and social posts, and honestly some tools are still solid. But recent changes around pricing, support, and stability pushed me over the edge. The subscription tiers are confusing. You’d think Team would be Pro plus a seat. Nope. They’re separate products, so adding one extra editor meant paying nearly double what I expected. That’s a lot for what feels like the same feature set. Then there’s billing. I was charged twice for the same period. I explained everything, sent screenshots, and got stuck in a loop of automated replies asking me to submit the same info again. Never once did a real person respond. They eventually sent an email saying the issue was “resolved” and asking for feedback. That was tone-deaf. Performance is worse than it used to be. Captions take forever to appear. The app freezes regularly. Projects longer than 10 minutes are risky — crashes happen. All of this while running on a solid MSI gaming PC, so it isn’t my hardware. For a higher-priced editor, that’s unacceptable. Still, it isn’t all bad. For quick edits and basic trimming it’s convenient, and some AI features are useful. It just feels inconsistent. Sometimes it’s smooth. Sometimes it’s a mess. That middle ground is the frustrating part. I’ll be switching to a different platform that makes pricing clear, has human support, and actually runs reliably on my machine. If you only do short, casual edits and don’t care about long projects or adding team seats, CapCut might still do the job. But if you need predictable billing, responsive support, or stable performance for longer videos, I’d look elsewhere.
Downgraded after I paid
I signed up for the yearly Pro plan back in January because the AI video generation and longer exports were exactly what I needed. At first everything worked as advertised and I was actually relieved — it saved time. Then, a few weeks later, limits appeared, features were capped or moved behind new payment layers. So what was delivered changed after I already paid. I reached out to support and got slow, vague replies that didn’t address the core issue — why the product I bought was effectively weakened. Delivery here means the promised functionality; that was altered, so delivery was poor. Service was cagey and not helpful. I still use the app sometimes but with less trust. A practical disappointment, honestly; won’t be renewing unless things get much clearer.
