    Glitchy but one useful lesson

Site feels clunky and freezes a lot, pages load slowly. Most courses felt thin, but one lesson actually surprised me — try the free preview

    Been here from the start

Started following them years ago and bought a bunch of courses. First time I used the app I was pleasantly surprised — instant access, easy playback, and customer support was actually helpful when I had a question. Also love the free daily video feature, didn't expect that.

    Mostly useful

I like the videos — they're clear and practical when I sit down to learn. Some units repeat a bit, but the annual promo makes it worth it even if you only do a couple.

    Not what I expected

skip it. I needed this for freelance Photoshop work—had a deadline and a sore back from moving, so no time to waste. Most courses feel ancient (think 2015 Photoshop), you can't always jump to the next class (tried a Ramit Sethi fast class, got stuck). A few teachers like Karl Taylor are decent, but pretty disappointing, honestly.

    Decent app, messy billing

I signed up during a hectic move. The tool itself worked fine, simple interface, I actually liked that part. Then they auto-renewed without warning and charged me twice. Took a week to get any reply, and response was slow. Annoying. Still, the app did speed up packing, oddly helpful.

    New camera, less panic

I remember staring at the new camera on my kitchen table, totally unsure. I bought John Greengo's quick start course because YouTube had left me confused and a bit annoyed — I needed something structured. I worried it'd be too basic or too techy, but that worry vanished within the first hour. The lessons are clear, friendly, and actually practical; I learned more in an hour than in the two weeks I spent hopping between random vids. There are free on-air clips and a free lesson of the day, which I could only find on my iPad, weirdly — probably user error. I still fumble with menus, though. Really glad I bought it, honestly.

Worth it, but missing fresh camera content

Picked up a few of their courses because I needed to learn my new mirrorless for a trip, and honestly they helped a lot — easy to follow, good pace. I do notice they haven't added much on the latest cameras and drones, which is kinda annoying if you're chasing the newest gear. Still, the classics and basics are solid and the frequent sales make it easy to bite, so I keep coming back for the occasional refresher. Not perfect, but useful and good value overall.

    Late-night scrolling regret

everything in one place, you can binge, you can pause, whatever. But using it day-to-day felt... flat. The old courses I bought earlier still had that solid, hands-on vibe, they actually taught you stuff. New releases? Pretty generic, skimpy exercises, like they stopped caring about depth. The player and notes feel the same — reliable but not improving — so you end up repeating the same basic modules. I’m grateful the classics are still useful, really, but I’m canceling. Can’t recommend for serious upskilling anymore.

    Support made me rethink buying

I wouldn’t trust them with an expensive course after this. I tried to buy a discounted course last week and needed help during checkout — that’s when the problem started. The rep (a senior agent, supposedly) barely read my messages, answered with canned replies and didn’t seem to know their own platform, which cost me four days of back-and-forth. The promo expired while we were sorting it out, so I lost the discount. I asked to escalate and to speak with a manager but those requests were ignored. Oddly, once access was finally fixed the course loaded fine and looked decent, so not everything was terrible. Still, I won’t risk paying big sums if this is typical.

    Downloaded little win

a short segment with a simple suggestion that untangled the whole thing. Having the class downloaded to my laptop made that moment possible — I could rewind, take notes, pause, try the idea, rewind again. That kind of hands-on, go-back-and-forth access turned a one-off lesson into something I keep coming back to. The instructor’s tips were clear, not preachy, and felt usable right away. I wish more platforms made purchased courses downloadable like this; it’s worth paying a bit more if you plan to actually use the material. Also, don’t be shy about rewatching the same clip three times — it helps. Emotionally I felt oddly buoyed, like someone quietly nudged my work forward. If you’re serious about finishing a long project, treat a course like this as a reference book you can open anytime.

    Short trial, long frustration

a few preview lessons were actually helpful and the instructors sounded competent. But the trial itself turned into the main problem. It expired once before I’d even used it properly. Support reset it one time (that was something), I spent maybe two hours testing things, then let it sit for a couple days to see if it’d grow on me. When I came back the trial clock was zero again and customer service wouldn’t extend access any further. That’s the key issue I want to call out — not the content necessarily, but the access. If you can’t get enough time to explore, you can’t judge value, and support seemed unwilling to bridge that gap. I understand policies exist, but from a practical standpoint this felt stingy and left me with an incomplete impression. So, not everything about the site is bad — the sample materials suggested there could be value — but because I never got a fair chance to use it, the service didn’t earn my money or trust. Might work for others who get full time; didn’t work for me.

    Ready (mostly) for newborn shoots

you need to know how to use a DSLR in full manual — that's assumed. Also, I snagged $15 off on top of a sale through a referral link, which made me feel better about the price. Happy it helped — relieved and a little excited to try it.

    Bad customer service experience

I had a not so great experience with customer service recently. I had some specific questions but the senior member who helped me gave me really generic answers and didn't seem to know much about how things work at the company. It took a whole 4 days to finally get my issue sorted out, and by then, a special deal had already expired. I missed out on getting a course at a discounted price because of this. Whenever I asked to talk to a manager or get some help from someone higher up, those requests were ignored. I was pretty frustrated with the lack of support I received. Now I'm feeling unsure about spending money on expensive courses from this company.

    Annual subscription

I really love the videos! Getting the annual subscription is such a good deal, even if you only take a few courses here and there. The content is amazing, and I always end up learning something new. I highly recommend it!

    Subscription course

I used to love this platform and bought a lot of courses and even signed up for more. But, lately, I feel like they're not releasing as many good courses as before. I thought the subscription was a good idea at first, but now I feel like I just threw my money away. The courses they have aren't getting updated, and the new ones are too generic. So, I decided to cancel my subscription and can't really tell others to use this platform anymore. It's disappointing to see them go downhill like this, especially when so many people are looking for online learning options.

    Photography courses

The photography classes on this site are really disappointing. The videos are old and use outdated software like Photoshop. It's hard to really get into the material and apply it to what's happening in the industry now. Plus, it's a pain trying to switch between classes, which is super annoying when you're looking for stuff that's more current. If you want some new and interesting photography courses, you're better off checking out some other places.

    CreativeLive class on memoir writing

I've been a fan of CreativeLive for a while now, and I gotta say, their classes are top-notch. The dedication, instruction, and production value in all their topics are just unmatched. I recently took a memoir writing class led by bestselling author Joyce Maynard, and it was a game-changer for me as a writer. Her advice and guidance were so valuable, and the fact that I can go back and review the materials whenever I want is huge. Being able to download the course content was a real bonus too, since I could work offline and really soak in all of Ms. Maynard's wisdom. If you're looking to level up your skills and knowledge in a convenient and accessible way, CreativeLive is the way to go. Highly recommend it!

    Scammy auto-renew

Oh my gosh, this company is the absolute worst! They automatically renew your subscription without even giving you a heads up, and then they end up charging you twice! It's crazy how long it takes for customer service to even get back to you. If you're thinking about buying from them, just be careful!

    Beginner photography course

I bought this beginner photography course to figure out how to work my new camera. John Greengo's course was super helpful and easy to follow. I swear, I learned more in that first hour than I did in weeks of trying to watch YouTube videos. My only regret is not getting this course earlier. Also, I stumbled upon some free on air videos and a daily free lesson. Only downside is I could only watch them on my iPad, not my laptop. Probably my own fault for not being the best with tech stuff.

    Photography courses

I've been with them for a bit and every time they have a sale on photography courses, I jump on it. But lately, I've noticed they're not keeping up. The photography courses are outdated, missing info on new mirrorless cameras and drones. Some courses are old and need a refresh. It feels like they're always having sales, which makes me think they're having trouble keeping up. Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if someone buys them out soon.
