Quietly useful, until an update rearranged things

GPS trackers always sound great on paper but often choke on real life, battery life is usually exaggerated, and apps can be flaky. I almost didn’t buy it, actually. I remember thinking, do I really need another gadget to worry about? But my sister kept insisting the Adventure mode was dead-on and that the customer support had been decent when she had a small hiccup, so I gave it a shot mid-November. At first my doubts faded. It was surprisingly straightforward to order and set up, the strap went on easy, the app paired without drama, and for the first month it did exactly what we were told — accurate steps, believable GPS trails, and the Active Minutes lined up with what I had actually done on walks. I caught myself telling neighbors about it, not in a salesman way, just, hey this thing works, check it out. Then came the iOS 16.2 update. About two weeks after that, the Adventure mode started misreporting distances and then, more annoyingly, it shut down completely. That’s the whole point of having it, so yeah, I was annoyed. I reached out to customer support and they’ve been polite, which matters. Ashton from customer care explained they pushed a fix into QA and then into a beta, but the beta didn’t pass — QA took longer, and now they’re saying it might be one to two weeks for testing if no other issues show up. That felt like the right process, like they weren’t just tossing out quick patches, but also frustrating because I’ve been paying for a service that’s not delivering the core feature. The calibration was weird too — one walk that was 3.2 miles on my watch showed as over 4 on the device, and another day where the dog barely moved it logged everything like we’d done a long hike. I messed with calibration settings, tried the 0 to -1 tweak, and that helped a tiny bit but didn’t fix the big discrepancy after the update. So that’s where I land: I was doubtful before buying, the product largely erased those doubts with real, dependable use for a while, and then the iOS change brought them back, which was disappointing. The tone from customer service has been steady and transparent; they’ve kept me in the loop rather than ghosting, which shifts me back toward being patient. If the fix actually lands in the promised window and Adventure mode behaves again, I’ll happily flip to full satisfaction — I’d been ready to give five stars before the update, and I’d go back there if it holds up. If the delays drag on or the calibration issues stick around, I’ll start looking at alternatives and expect a refund for the months I couldn’t use what I paid for. For now I’m in a cautious, slightly optimistic place: the hardware seems fine, the company seems to care, but software compatibility with major OS updates is the weak link. So buy if you want good hardware and responsive support, but maybe hold off if you’re on the latest iOS and need flawless Adventure tracking right this second.

    That weird relief moment

my husband and I were driving toward the high school, there were paw prints everywhere, and the app calmly pointed us straight to the field where he was happily rolling around. At another point I told my husband, “check the third house on the right,” and sure enough, there he was in the front yard. The app had a few small hiccups early on, the interface felt clunky once or twice, but concierge fixed everything fast and actually sounded human. That switch from doubt to pure relief — priceless. Wouldn’t leave home without it now.
