the import didn’t keep key metadata. The zips from Google had no embedded EXIF. Location and camera info were only in separate JSON files, which the app didn’t read. Face tags didn’t come over either — there’s no common standard for that. I reached out to support. They answered quickly and explained the limitation. They even suggested a workaround and were polite about it. Still, the delivery of my data wasn’t what I expected. I’m skeptical about renewing, but I was pleased with the human side of support. Advice: ask about exports first. It could save you time.
Almost perfect, until the drive mess
a single hub for a massive, messy photo library, searchable and not scattered across ten external drives. It was neat to see albums fill themselves and faces group up. Then things went a bit sideways. Drives I assumed were untouched suddenly had Mylio folders; my laptop alerted me about low space, and the externals showed growth I couldn't explain. At first I blamed my own chaos, then the app, then maybe the cables. I spent a few evenings digging through forums, the help pages, trying different settings, and honestly it was more confusing than it should've been. I couldn't find a safe way to stop it from creating directories on every drive, so in the end I uninstalled and manually deleted Mylio folders until I breathed again. That got me back around 14 TB and freed four SSDs that are actually useful again. It's not all doom — the organizing and face-tagging are genuinely good, and once I saw the correct groupings I felt satisfied, like okay, this is worth retrying, but I'm going to do it properly next time. If you've had rough syncs with other photo services, this will probably set off the same wary feeling. My advice: point it to one big drive or a NAS, buy a dedicated external if needed, and check settings twice. Not perfect, but powerful enough to be worth a careful second attempt.
