frustrating start, but I'm actually glad I didn’t quit. I needed this because I’ve been trying to connect with my Latino roots — lots of family stories, a dad who never talked about where exactly his side came from — and I hoped the raw upload would give some real detail. At first the site was just... bad. Uploads errored, pages froze, sometimes it logged me out. I tried different browsers, my phone, cleared cache, everything. For a company that does DNA this felt sloppy. I was ready to give up. Then I emailed support, kind of annoyed, and after a slow back-and-forth they offered a manual option and walked me through another upload attempt. Not fast. Not polished. It still felt clunky. But my data eventually went through and the ancestry breakdown was interesting, more specific than I expected. So yeah — you might hit walls. If you’re impatient, beware. If you can deal with some hassle, it actually pays off a bit. Not perfect, but useful.
Mixed results — good delivery, weak report
regional categories were broad, explanations were thin, and the layout didn't really help me understand what they meant (maps that kind of overlap, percentages without context). For a DNA report I wanted clearer reasoning and more detail; instead I was left guessing how reliable some of the calls were. Having used one of the bigger companies before, I could see the difference in database size and the clarity of their regional splits. That said, I appreciate that delivery and customer service actually worked smoothly here — made the whole thing less frustrating. If you're mainly after speed and decent support this will do, but if you want deep, well-explained ancestry detail, look at the larger providers and read Reddit/Google reviews first.
Useful test, weak follow-up
I bought this because I wanted clearer family history and there’s a history of heart disease on my mom’s side, so I wanted any clues. I’d had a bad experience with another lab before, so I was cautious. I called first but ordered anyway.
Small relief after a messy start
I'm glad it finally worked out, even though getting there was a headache. A coworker first mentioned Living DNA and I signed up after seeing a couple posts on a genealogy subreddit. At first the ordering and kit arrival were fine, not exciting but normal. The snag came with follow-up questions — answers were slow and I got bounced between reps more than once. I was told a specific person would handle my case and they never followed through, which was annoying because I had already emailed details and felt stuck repeating myself. That said, after a second push from my side things did move: someone eventually reopened my case, clarified a couple points, and the results were delivered and looked sensible. So, overall, not perfect but usable. I'm glad it didn't drag on forever and that the main issue was solvable without me having to escalate further. The experience taught me to be persistent and to keep records of every message — that helped get it over the line. I'm thankful it wasn't a total loss and would say it's worth trying if you can tolerate a bit of back-and-forth.
not exactly "West Balkan" material
I was scrolling through my Living DNA results over coffee and nearly spit it out. There it was — Slovenia lumped into a neat little "West Balkan" box. I told my cousin, who collects old maps and trivia, and she made a face. That was the moment I knew I wanted to dig in. I started looking at maps, old school history stuff, and a couple of genetics papers. Pretty quickly it felt less like nitpicking and more like "okay, this is off." Geographically and culturally, Slovenia sits with Austria and northern Italy more than with, say, Albania or southern Greece. Genetically it shows the same lean. So when the academic papers I checked showed Slovenian clusters closer to Central and Northern Europe, I actually relaxed. That satisfyingly quiet click of confirmation — that was a good feeling. I’d already messaged a handful of relatives and a friend who’s into genealogy; they were glad someone checked. Living DNA grouping Slovenians with Serbs and Bosnians makes a tidy headline, sure, but the region is messy and mixed in real life. You can’t just throw everyone under "West Balkan" and call it a day. I’d like a bit more nuance. A label that recognizes overlap with Central Europe would make the report useful, not confusing. Small change, big difference for people who care about identity and history. I don’t need perfection. I just want the map to match what I — and some decent research — actually see.
DNA results inquiry
The team was so fast and thorough in getting back to me about my DNA results and what they could tell me about my ancestry. They were super helpful and totally willing to share their knowledge with me.
DNA Ancestry Test
The whole process of ordering, collecting my sample, and getting my DNA test results was smooth and fast. The website was easy to use, the sample collection instructions were clear, and I got my results quickly. The info in my DNA test results was not only interesting but also pretty shocking. It showed my roots all the way back to ancient times, through history, and up to now, giving me a full picture of my family history and where my people have traveled. Honestly, I was blown away and happy with my ancestry results.
DNA test results
The service at the DNA testing company was pretty good overall. The staff was friendly and the customer service was efficient. But, I gotta say, I was kinda let down by the accuracy of the DNA matching. The estimates they gave were sorta on point, but the matches I got didn't really match up with what I know about my ancestry. Like, I got matched with folks from Britain and Western Europe, even though I don't have any ancestors from there. It's making me wonder if the matching algorithm they use is really reliable. It would definitely be helpful if they could work on improving this part of their service to give customers more accurate results.
Ancestry DNA testing
I just got an ancestry DNA testing kit and I'm super happy with how everything went down. Ordering it was a breeze, and I got fast responses to all my questions through email. The kit gave me a ton of details about my ancestry, even digging deep into regions I never would've guessed. I'd definitely suggest this company to anyone curious about their genetic background. The staff, especially Miss Clare, were super nice and helpful the whole way through, making it a great experience.
Quick results, technical glitches, hands-on customer service, Viking upgrade, beautifully presented results, informative
I was really happy with how quickly I got my results back, especially when I compared it to my husband's experience with a different company. But, I did run into a few technical issues when my mother's haplogroup showed up as a man's name, which was pretty annoying. Luckily, Clare from customer service was super helpful and really worked hard to fix the problem. She even gave me a Viking upgrade as a nice gesture, which I thought was really cool. The results themselves looked amazing and gave me a lot of interesting information. The only thing that bugged me was that they didn't have a tree builder feature, which I think would have made the whole experience even better.
DNA test purchase
I just wanted to mention how impressed I was with the quick and professional response I received from customer service, especially from Clare. It was nice to see that human touch in their response and I could tell that Clare really knew what they were doing. Wishing them all the best in their work!
DNA ancestry results
Receiving my DNA ancestry results was a breeze. The info I got was super helpful for my book research on Ancestral Notes and Histories. I haven't asked for any medical details yet 'cause I'm really digging into my family history right now. The report was thorough and simple to understand, giving me a better grasp of my genetic background and where my ancestors came from.
DNA ancestry kit
The customer service at this company is amazing! I got to work with a rep named Clare, and let me tell you, she was absolutely fantastic. Clare was so knowledgeable, efficient, and professional in every interaction we had. I don't know if the rest of the staff is as great as she is, but if they are, this company must have some top-notch employees. Clare really made the whole process easy and stress-free for me, and I couldn't be happier with the service I got.
DNA test purchase
My experience with the DNA test started off pretty frustrating because of some technical issues with the computer program. But let me tell you, Clare really stepped up and went the extra mile to help fix the problem. I gotta say, her hard work and commitment really impressed me. Now I'm excited for more purchases and new discoveries in the future.
DNA testing kit purchase
I recently got a DNA testing kit and was worried about shipping because of my upcoming trips. But, let me tell you, the customer service from Clare and the team was amazing. They answered my questions super fast and kept me updated on the shipping every step. They really made me feel like they cared about my order, not just another sale. I got the kit just in time, thanks to them. Clare even gave me some great advice on what to do next with the kit. I really appreciate companies that treat their customers with compassion and care, and Living DNA nailed it with their customer service.
DNA kit purchase
I just got a DNA kit and man, the report it gave me was amazing! It didn't just show me where my DNA comes from, but also shared some cool info about my mom and dad's side, helping me learn more about where I come from. I've tried another DNA kit before, but this one was way better in terms of detail and what it offered. I totally suggest it to anyone curious about their roots.
Efficient and timely customer service
I've talked to the folks at this company a few times, especially Claire, and I've gotta say, they really know how to get things done quickly. Claire and the rest of the team are always on top of things, giving me great answers to my questions that make me trust the service they offer. Even though they probably have a ton of questions coming in, they manage to respond super fast every time.
DNA testing kit replacement
I had some trouble with my DNA testing kit getting lost in the mail not just once, but twice. But I gotta say, the customer service was on point! They didn't waste any time sending me replacement kits, no questions asked. And when I finally got the kit, the processing time was quicker than I expected. Pleasantly surprised, to say the least!
DNA profile assistance
I had a little mix-up with my DNA profile on the website recently. When I contacted customer support, I was really impressed by how fast they responded and how helpful they were. The person I talked to really knew their stuff and took the time to fully understand my situation. They quickly came back to me with a solution and gave me clear instructions on how to fix the problem. It wasn't a big deal, but it was enough to slow me down on the website. Thanks to their help, I was able to get back on track quickly and keep using the site without any more issues.
DNA test
I've had some rough experiences with other DNA testing companies before, but Living DNA is amazing! They were really helpful and actually answered all my questions like a real person, not some robot. The prices were fair and the quality was top-notch. I'm definitely spreading the word to all my friends about them!
