I almost skipped this Harbor Lights cruise because I pictured a tourist-packed ferry and lame narration. Glad I didn't — the guide cracked jokes but knew their stuff, and we floated right up to Lady Liberty, which was worth the crowded deck. Bar prices were annoying and I hate standing, but the skyline was gorgeous and it softened my complaints. Reminds me of cheaper tours that felt emptier.
Cold deck, warm skyline
I almost didn't go — a coworker had DM'd me a pic that looked promising but small, plus I worried about standing outside in the cold. Still, I figured I'd try it. At first I kept thinking the skyline was weirdly doubled; turns out the interior had Christmas lights and trees, and their reflections on the glass spoiled a lot of the view (some windows were fogged too). After grumbling I went up on deck, endured the subzero air, and finally got the postcard Manhattan scenery. So satisfied overall, just wish they dimmed the cabin decorations a bit during the cruise.
