30. He arrived around 3:00 and could not find a problem. He checked the plug, the outlet, wiring — nothing alarming. I told the company. They asked for more checks. Then they said suddenly I needed a new outside meter box and a new inside box, and quoted roughly $11,000. That really escalated things. I panicked, called people I trust. A man who once did work for me and used to be with Alabama Power — long experience — connected me with a young electrician he trusted. That young man had dealt with this company before and said he would come out and look before making any major calls. A friend’s husband, who has over 40 years as an electrician, also came by and went through everything carefully. Both independent pros did the same detailed checks. They found nothing wrong with the inside box or the outside box. Neither of them charged me. That was a surprise. It calmed me down more than I expected. Meanwhile, the first crew had actually replaced some outdoor plugs. OK, that might have been useful, except I was charged about $162 for two outdoor plugs and they installed four. That kept my skepticism alive for a bit. Still, the unit logged data right away and started building a baseline like they said, supposedly over seven days.
Customer service was decent. Not glowing, not terrible.
