Bought this trimmer for my morning routine — quick touch-ups on my beard and the neck. Fine at first, then around 90 days it started catching hairs, like—snag, snag, wouldn't finish a pass. I sent proof (third-party receipt) and they still refused the 12-month repair. Kinda bummed, switching back to my old brand. Feels cheap, not snag-proof as advertised, a bit annoying.
Surprise go-to
Honestly, this is my go-to now — surprised how much I like it. I got the Archibald as a gift and started using it two weeks ago, mostly for a quick body trim. First thought was "huh, where are the extras?" but after a shave I realized the single adjustable guard covers everything; took a minute to get used to it, but it's so simple. No nicks, which is huge for me — I've cut myself with other groomers a ton. Also the tiny built-in light actually helps, weirdly useful. Overall very pleased, would recommend.
Payment taken, then radio silence
I emailed twice, then again, and got zero replies. I hate escalations but ended up canceling the subscription, filing a chargeback, and reporting them. Maybe their site and price looked fine, but the no-communication thing and no delivery make it unusable. Not terrible for researching, but don’t rely on them.
Weekend unpacking test
very plasticky but it actually trimmed what I needed without fuss, kind of surprising given how cheap it felt. After some months of light, occasional use the first unit let water in; customer support replaced it fairly quickly once I sent a short video (they do ask for proof, so not totally hands-off). Both devices have since stopped working after two years, which is disappointing. One odd thing: I later found the identical unit sold direct from China for a tiny fraction of the price, so it looks like a rebrand. I’ll probably buy another because it does the job, just not from the original seller — too pricey for the lifespan.
Tracking black hole
you have to download some Shop app, sign up, and apparently give your email and password to see tracking. That was weird and it didn’t even work. I emailed their hello/help addresses, nada. The app briefly flashed "Delivered" and then blank. I never got the package — maybe it went elsewhere, maybe not. Opened a PayPal dispute and got a refund next day (thank goodness), but no reply from the seller. Annoying and a little funny in a sad way. Doubts? Yeah, still there.
