I won't be buying from Matthew Fan Co. again. I first saw their products on a home design site and my installer actually recommended them, so I bought five fans over a few years — about $800–$1,000 each, almost $5k total. That makes this whole situation even more frustrating. One fan arrived in a box that had been opened. I called customer service and a rep told me I could return or exchange if anything was wrong. Thinking I was covered, we had the installer put it up. Then the in‑wall remote didn't work and the installer noticed scratches on the down rod. I called back to start an exchange and was told installed fans can't be returned. So the policy changed after installation. They denied my request and told me to contact Matthew and Co., which felt like being passed around. I ordered a replacement and was told a week; it's been eight weeks with no firm updates. I get mistakes happen, but mixed messages, long delays, and no real satisfaction guarantee on expensive items are unacceptable. Feels like I was left with a lemon and poor support. If you choose them, check policies and get it in writing. I warned some friends.
A lamp almost ruined my move — then it didn't

But the turning point was their customer service person who actually picked up the phone, listened, and offered a couple of real in-stock alternatives — none of that vague "we'll check" stuff. They arranged a faster shipment and it arrived in good shape, exactly as promised. Delivery was smooth, driver left it where asked, packaging was fine. I ended up happy — not perfect, not instant, but their service redeemed the slow start. Would I use them again? Probably yes, just will call first next time. Overall a positive outcome after some stress.
