I switched over because my old host kept going down and, frankly, I have a bad back so I couldn't spend hours troubleshooting. Apex got the server up fast (delivery was smooth and painless) and the box runs solid. Prices are fair, not flashy. Their docs are decent but I still mess up uploads and settings now and then; support always replies fast and usually sorts it out for me. Saved me time and hassle, so I'm glad I moved.
Sweaty-palms setup, but worth it
kinda clunky to set up, lots of clicks and waiting, but the staff walked me through the mess. Francisca in particular was patient, giving step-by-step fixes and even a couple of tips I wouldn't have thought to ask for. It's not flawless — I hit one weird crash later — but mostly it's smooth and actually fun with my friends. Would buy again, with slight nerves.
Servers don't cut it
Not worth it right now. I had to say that first. The ARK server I rented with two friends was constantly lagging. We were three people, nothing crazy, but the rubber-banding and random spikes killed our progress more than once. Game runs fine on our PCs. The host's performance didn't. Saves corrupted? Not sure, but we lost hours because of sudden deaths and teleporting mobs. It felt amateur. I get that hosting is hard, but if you offer multiple game servers, at least optimize them. Or be honest and only sell what you can handle. I'd try again if they fixed it, but for now I'm done, sadly.
