Finding out that tickets were being sold for a “Celebration of Life” for my late husband, Emadu Rahim, also known as DJ Rakim, was honestly upsetting beyond words. This was not something I had agreed to, and nobody from his immediate family had been consulted. At first, I thought Eventbrite would take it seriously once I explained the situation. I contacted them on March 2, 2026, after seeing the event, scheduled for April 24, being promoted by someone called “2 Shades.” I was already dealing with grief and all the everyday things that somehow still need doing when someone passes away, so I really hoped this would be a straightforward report.

I needed a ticketing platform for a Breast Cancer Now fundraising gala, and I’ll admit I had some doubts before choosing this one. I’d used another service years ago that was clunky, but I thought, “How hard can it be to set up a page, sell tickets, and make one or two changes?” Apparently, hard enough that I started talking to my laptop like it had personally offended me. Every time I tried to edit details, adjust the event settings, or fix something small, I got an error message. Not a helpful one either, just the usual vague technical nonsense that sends you in circles. I checked everything over and over, because support kept replying as if I’d forgotten to fill in basic information. I hadn’t. The issue was clearly on their end, but getting someone to acknowledge that felt like trying to explain Wi-Fi to my dad.
