their consistency. Small, steady nudges that didn’t feel pushy actually meant something. A weird tip I now tell friends — people often need a real, energizing goal, not just "don’t drink." Train for a race, learn to dive, sign up for something you have to work toward. That kind of focus surprised me by how helpful it can be. Not saying it would’ve saved him, but it might help someone else. Grateful for the compassion, pissed at the disease, always missing him.
Quiet relief after a long wobble
he talked like a person, explained things without jargon, and didn't rush me. Suddenly my doubts felt a little silly.
The speed was the other surprise — not instant, but quick enough that I didn't have to wait months and fall apart in the meantime. Michael rang every day during the detox; he was steady, practical, knew a lot, and even managed to make me laugh on a rough morning, which helped more than I expected. He also gave realistic follow-up options and suggested meetings that fit my life.
The detox itself was manageable; not pleasant, but comfortable enough with the support they gave. I'm a few weeks sober now and honestly relieved. I still have ups and downs, but I wouldn't have gotten this far without that fast, human approach. Not what I expected, honestly
Okay, so this is a bit of a long one but I want to tell you how it went because I kept thinking about it and, well, maybe it’ll help someone. A few months back I had a brutal hangover and it hit me — I couldn’t keep drinking like that. I was shaky, panicky, felt sick, and messaged Help4addiction on their chat because I wanted something that didn’t smell like a long hospital stay. The person on the chat was calm and actually listened, which I appreciated right away. She told me about The Farm DayHab and how it had helped her. I believed her — I was desperate and that’s a stupid vulnerable place to be, so I kind of jumped.
Not worth the price, plain and simple
I wouldn’t recommend this program. I paid a lot and expected something structured and useful, but what I got didn’t match the price or the promise. I say that as someone who was already in a brain injury rehab program for three months and who needed extra help getting back on my feet. That rehab actually helped; this course didn’t. I even had to borrow £2495 from my mother to pay for it, and looking back that was a bad choice.
The sessions felt vague and the staff didn’t offer the practical, consistent guidance I was hoping for. What I needed was clear, targeted support — one-on-one counseling or a therapist who answered emails and followed up. Instead, my assigned one-on-one, Charlotte, often didn’t respond to messages while I was actively in treatment. That’s exactly the person I needed to be available. I was told generic lines like “addicts just want it now,” which felt dismissive and wasn’t helpful for someone rebuilding after trauma.
I suppose the only useful takeaway is that personal change ultimately comes from your own work, which I already knew from rehab. But paying a premium for a program that feels understaffed and unresponsive leaves a bitter taste. I mailed correspondence recorded delivery and still got ignored, so customer care wasn’t great either.
If you’re deciding between this and private counseling, do the math. One-to-one counseling would probably give you more concrete strategies for the same or less money. I’m slightly relieved I learned something from the experience, but that’s about the most positive thing I can say. There’s a small glimmer of usefulness for some people, but for me it felt overpriced and under-delivering.Not what I signed up for — mixed bag, mostly let down
Home Detox plus Online Therapy, and they promised "Personalised Support For Your Recovery." That line is what sold me. I was desperate, honest to God, and willing to pay for something that would actually help without wrecking my job.
