Right when I unboxed it I thought, hmm, something's off — the level wouldn't settle and the gyroscope seemed dead. I tried resets and calibration a few times, even emailed Hozo and sat there waiting. A little annoying, sure, but when they actually honored the warranty and shipped a replacement unit I was relieved — really relieved. That moment I tested the new one and it worked perfectly is when I knew they handled it right. I've had worse returns with other companies, so this was a pleasant surprise.
