I took an Evans Evans Tours trip on September 25 and things went sideways. I was running late, messaged them, arrived at the terminal seven minutes after the scheduled time, and after waiting outside for 30 minutes we went to the office only to be told we were at the wrong spot and the bus had already gone. The frustrating part was our message apparently didn't get passed on, so we missed the whole tour. At least the desk person was calm and apologetic, so I was glad it wasn't handled worse.
When it finally clicked
On Sept 12 I took the Oxford–Cambridge day trip; I went in expecting the usual highlights and a polite guide, nothing special. First impression was quiet confidence — Yun Bai had that steady, factual way of speaking. I started paying attention when she calmly corrected a small myth about a college tradition (the kind of detail you don't get from pamphlets). Midway in a courtyard I remember thinking, okay, this is actually the best of the tours I've had. Practical, low on fluff, with a couple of pleasant surprises.
That turned out better than I expected
I almost didn't book this — I was worried it'd be too touristy and rushed. Went last month and honestly my doubts faded after the first stop. Cameron, our guide, spoke clearly and had these little stories about Brasenose and other odd facts that actually stuck with me. Ahmed, the driver, was calm and drove smoothly, which made the day feel relaxed. A couple of spots felt a bit tight on time, and I wished for five more minutes at Stratford, but overall the pacing was fine. Glad I went, learned stuff, had fun, and would recommend asking for them.

Smooth ride, small hiccup
Took the Stonehenge inner/outer circle plus Windsor with Cameron as our guide and Zohier driving. Guide was chatty, informative and easygoing; driver got us there smoothly and on time. The stop for Pimm’s (worth trying) was a nice touch. A tiny delay boarding, but overall efficient and friendly — would recommend.

Phil's stories made the Cotswolds feel like a soap opera about history — in a good way. Mark drove smooth and saved us time, honestly. I’ve had messy tours before, so this felt relaxed. I learned a surprising amount, kept laughing, and left actually knowing stuff.
Low-key great day
Halfway through the coach I noticed how relaxed everyone was — that set the tone. Cameron kept things efficient and chatty, Jake drove so smoothly you barely felt the miles. The route felt well paced, stops were a good mix of pretty and interesting. Glad it all went smoothly; maybe a bit more time in Canterbury would help.
Split-second relief on Walton Street
My heart did a weird cartwheel when their coach drove straight through a red at Walton Street — people were already stepping onto the crossing. I was on a usual weekend hop (I take these buses), and for a split second I thought, uh-oh. The moment I knew I was okay was when the old lady steadied herself and we all mouthed "you all right" — I laughed and relaxed. Still not confident about their safety.

Halfway down the lane, I remember laughing because Cameron and Armajit kept tossing little local stories that made the bus feel less like a tour and more like hanging with old friends. I first saw the tour online and signed up; I tipped Cameron for the extra anecdotes. The deep-dive into village history was unexpectedly sweet.
Relief after a messy St. Paul’s visit
I only had one afternoon in London and really wanted St. Paul’s, so I booked this tour — needed it for the tight schedule. The bus left late, St. Paul’s wasn’t open until 2, and then the guide said the line was too long so we’d skip it. I was annoyed, paid £230 for two and got nothing. After pestering them by email I finally got a refund and an apology — that moment when the money hit my card was a proper relief, even if the day was ruined.
Solid guide, few niggles
I’d recommend it but it’s not flawless. I booked because my lower back’s been bad and I needed a calmer day out. Cameron was knowledgeable and funny, and he actually checked in with everyone on the drive back and offered help with transport and food — that meant a lot. He also knew when to be quiet, finally. Amjit drove like a pro through awful traffic. Good logistics, steady pace. One stop felt a bit rushed, though. A couple small flaws but I’d go again.
Late, hot, and a bit helpless
I remember the point I actually relaxed a little was weird — standing outside the arena, sweating but knowing we still got in. The day started with hope; nothing fancy, booked a coach to ABBA Voyage and assumed the usual. Then the replacement bus showed up (technical issue earlier apparently) and things went sideways. It left late, the aircon seemed non-existent, and at one stage Maps said 20 minutes but ten minutes later it somehow read 27 — felt like the driver was guessing, and for a while we weren’t even getting closer. That’s when I started getting properly annoyed. A passenger collapsed and lay in the aisle; that should’ve prompted clear communication, some apologies, anything — but the tour guide stayed quiet the whole way. Not great. Anyway, when we finally arrived we’d missed about twenty minutes of the show, which stung. The small relief came when arena staff got us straightened out quickly and seemed genuinely apologetic, and once I sat down and the lights went up I was able to enjoy the rest — and that’s the moment I admitted to myself it wasn’t a total disaster. If you’ve used other companies and expect updates, this felt sloppy by comparison. Mildly enthusiastic about the show itself, still annoyed at how the trip was handled.
Half-right day, awkward service
the coach was clearly old and not very clean, and maybe half the audio units didn’t work, which was annoying when you rely on them. Customer service was the low point — one guide made offhand comments that felt dismissive toward Asian visitors, which put a damper on the whole thing. Other staff were fine, and timing was okay, so it’s not a total fail, just disappointing. I’d go again for the place, but be cautious about the human side.
Mixed feelings after Stonehenge
In short, I was ready to written them off, but they sorted most of it. A friend tipped me to this tour, so I gave it a shot. They left Stonehenge before picking us up and for a while I couldn’t reach the guide or driver. We were stuck and had to get back to London with buses and trains — about £90 extra. At first no one replied and I was pretty annoyed. After a couple days they did contact me, returned our stuff and refunded part of the travel cost. Slow and messy, but it ended better than I expected.
