I tried this service two weeks ago for a ferry; first impression was clunky site. They never sent the QR e-ticket, so I almost got kicked off the ferry. It worked out after calling support, I'm relieved.
Booking hiccup
I spotted them in a travel group and a friend urged me to book. The boat itself was fine, but customer service was only reachable after 6pm, which slowed everything down. It took three days to adjust our reservation and they canceled our return ferry. Ruined part of the trip. I was annoyed, would be careful next time.
Evening ferry mix-up
I was trying to compare Dover–Calais fares after work and picked what I thought was P&O. The comparison tool seemed useful at first, actually — simple and quick. Then the booking flow got messy. It showed other operators instead of P&O. The confirmation email arrived with awful formatting and no departure times. A receipt followed that listed £1192 for the crossing. I had to stop and double-check everything. Feels like the basics work, but the software and emails need a fix. Used it around 5–6pm and left annoyed, though I might try again if they tidy it up.
Found an easier route
Was trying to get across Cook Strait to visit my sister—Interislander was full. Openferry showed other sailings and clear prices, booking took two minutes. Pretty relieved, saved time and stress.
Name mix-up, small fee
Halfway through packing I spotted that both tickets were under my name — classic me, double-checked but still. Asked to fix it, they wanted €6, which annoyed me, but I paid since we had to leave. Haven't seen the official name change show up yet, but honestly it wasn’t the end of the world. Glad it didn’t cost more and we still made our weekend plans; small hassle, mostly sorted.
