Almost made it work, but ran out of patience

community solar credits, one dashboard, less carbon guilt. But the actual hands-on experience was messy. Using the website felt like using an old app that never got updated — clunky, slow, and the terminology was confusing. The dashboard did show credits eventually, and when it worked I liked seeing a little reduction on my bill. That gave me a small, quiet satisfaction, not a cheer but like, okay this is doing something. Most days though, the data lagged, graphs were vague, and trying to find what was applied versus what was pending was a chore. It didn't feel polished or reassuring, which matters when you're trusting them with your billing connection. Early on they asked me to turn off two-factor so they could access my utility account. I get needing access, but asking me to weaken my security felt uncomfortable. Then there was a stupid email mistake on my part — I sent a question from my work account — and somehow that got glued to the Stripe billing profile. Suddenly every month my work inbox got payment confirmations. I explained it to support, several times, and each time they promised they'd fix it. They must have said "we escalated to a manager" a half dozen times. Weeks passed. The confirmations kept coming. I called Stripe; Stripe said Arcadia had to fix it. I told Arcadia that. They said a manager handled it. Nothing changed. At one point I gave up and asked to cancel. They told me cancellation would take months and then offered a $100 gift card if I'd stay. Fine, I agreed, thinking at least they'd resolve the billing mess. Then months of silence about the card, unclear status notes, and one awkward call where the rep got annoyed that I was annoyed. The last straw was getting an email that they were connecting me to another solar farm after I'd been told cancellation was pending. That could have been helpful for the billing overlap, but no one could tell me what was going on. It's not all doom — when things line up the credits do show and it's nice to see a small dent in the bill — but the service and communications feel sloppy, and the UI/UX leaves you doing most of the work. For someone who needed this because of bills and a recent move, the potential was real, but the execution made it more trouble than it was worth.

Small win after a messy start

I was relieved more than angry — they actually moved on my billing issue, which surprised me. I signed up late September after a rep stopped by and then asked to cancel in mid-October because I didn’t need the service anymore. I use services like this to try and trim my household electric bill, so I check statements regularly. Then in February I saw a huge charge show up — way more than expected — and my card declined. I called and yes, it was annoying to repeat the story, but someone said they’d look into it. Two days later the amount had been cut in half. That was unexpected and honestly a relief. It doesn’t erase the stress of getting billed after canceling, and I’d still be careful signing up, but I’m glad there was follow-through. If you try them, watch your account closely and keep notes of dates and names. For me it turned into a cautious thumbs-up because they did fix part of the problem.

About Arcadia

Renewable energy is gotten from carbon natural sources like geothermal heat, tides, waves, wind, rain, and sunlight. This energy derived from these classified renewable sources is believed to be naturally replenished, based on a human timescale, unlike fossil fuels which are hardly replenished but exhausted in a fast space. There are debates about the neutral status of carbon gotten from these sources, as they encompass the entire carbon composition of the biomass. Energy gotten from renewable energy is used in rural, transportation, water heating/cooling, and air energy services. As of 2016, renewable power is believed to provide more opportunities for job creation than oil or coal in the United States. Worldwide based on data acquired in 2016 over 8.1 million persons are employed in the sector. With the current call for the reduction of agents that pose a threat or destroy the ozone layer, leading to climatic change and global warming, that is ravaging the planet, renewable energy seems like a means to help save the planet and the billions of species it plays host. The clamor for people to turn to renewable power has not been greater. Arcadia avows to be one such platform that offers customers renewable power.
