I still remember unwrapping these as a wedding present nearly a quarter century ago — bit of a blur, but they were in constant use from day one. Fast forward, I replaced them once after about two decades, thinking that was the end of the story. Then a newer pepper mill started acting up after a few years — little plastic bit inside the grinder gave up when the jar was almost empty. I looked up the warranty because, well, why not, and noticed the grinding mechanism is covered for life. Reached out to Cole & Mason UK customer service and got a reply the next day. They were straightforward, apologetic about the model being discontinued, and offered a full RRP voucher to order a replacement pair online — even though only the pepper mill was faulty. I used the voucher, added about £40 to move up to a nicer Derwent pair, and they even organised a small complimentary refill which was a nice unexpected touch — sort of an anniversary thing, ha, not planned but welcome. Delivery was quick and everything arrived well packed; online ordering went smoothly. Special shout to Katie and Phoebe who handled the exchange — friendly, no fuss. Overall I like that a lifetime promise actually meant something here, and the whole process, from contacting support to getting the new set delivered, felt reliable. I'm happy to pay a bit more for peace of mind, and would recommend them for that reason.
