they send step-by-step guides that don't help, live chat gives canned replies, and they insist I have to stand by the unit while they walk me through diagnostics over the phone. I can't take a full day off for that. Compared to other installers I've used who sent a tech out quickly, this felt dismissive. The unit itself doesn't inspire confidence; using it is annoying and stressful. Pretty disappointed.
Quietly alarming
I had this EV charger installed less than a year ago and at first it seemed solid — metal box, no issues, charged the car every day without drama. I started using it right away. When it eventually failed I reached out to Indra. Their only reply was that they'd 'check the logs' and that was basically the end of it, so I replaced the unit myself. When I removed the enclosure I found burn marks inside; it had clearly caught fire internally. That's the single thing that sticks with me — a real safety concern. I emailed with my reference (76444) and got no follow-up. Works fine before it fails, but that's not good enough.
Stranded with a charger
30 AM, which is annoying if you work. The rep I spoke with, Jack, was actually helpful and said they’d cover it this once since it looked like a metering chip issue, and that the unit was OK to use if I kept restarting it. Then three weeks later an email pops up: nope, not covered. So I ended up getting a replacement from myenergi. The new one arrived and was simple to set up, and during installation the electrician found the Indra’s main power wires were dangerously close to overheating — like, could’ve caused a fire. That contradicted the “safe to use” advice I’d been given and honestly made me glad I switched. Small bright spot: the new charger’s delivery and install were straightforward. But overall, the customer service experience with Indra left me frustrated and worried.
Mail said I was enrolled
I was halfway through tossing junk mail when I actually read theirs — a notice saying I’d been enrolled. That was last month; I called right away. The first rep blamed a salesperson who supposedly came to my door, which never happened. They’d opened two accounts in my name without asking, and getting a supervisor or a corporate number felt impossible — total stonewall. The surprise was that after a second, longer call with a different agent they did cancel both accounts and assured me there’d be no charges, so at least that got sorted. Still, the whole thing felt invasive and sketchy; I’m keeping a close eye on my statements.
Half a headache, happy ending
the field tech was prompt and fixed it quickly, so I was back online way sooner than I expected. One weird quirk though — the automated message about "zero tolerance" for abuse is oddly loud in the queue; made me smile and roll my eyes at the same time. If I could offer a tip to others: try the off‑peak hours to call, and ask for a ticket number right away. Overall I’m actually relieved it worked out, and I appreciate the follow‑up. Would’ve been perfect without the hold time, but happy it ended well.
