I first noticed this on a coworker's wrist during lunch. It looked different from a distance. Up close it was even better. I bought the NY-405 gold with the steel bracelet, mostly because I was curious and a little skeptical - didn’t think it would outshine others in my box. Two weeks in, that skepticism faded. The watch has a quiet presence. It sits comfortably and the finish keeps catching light just so. The detail that sold me was the leather strap I ordered later. Swap it on and it suddenly reads more refined, softer, more expensive, which is odd since the steel bracelet isn’t cheap either. Also, the packaging is surprisingly nice. Not flashy, but dense and well made. If you’re on the fence, consider getting the leather strap option - you effectively get two solid bands. I’d say it’s a smart buy, even if I doubted it at first.
Unexpected daily favorite
I wasn’t hunting for a new watch — my old strap kept rubbing my wrist raw, so I grabbed this to see if something comfier existed. First off, it feels solid without being a brick; the case has a nice weight that actually tells you it’s built well. The leather strap broke in fast and is surprisingly soft, and the stainless bracelet that came with the bundle is chunky in a good way — swaps are easy, too. The dial is sharper in person, kind of art-deco-y, and the lume actually helps when I fumble for my phone at 3 a.m. Shipping updates were legit helpful (they sent tips on the crown, believe it or not). Overall, happy — could wear it every day.
