I almost backed out of the Try Before You Buy when I saw the fine print, but curiosity won. It took ages to arrive (holiday season, sure) and I unboxed it the same afternoon. First few hours? Pretty decent — does what it should, not flashy, kind of solid. My real gripe is the financial hassle and ghostly customer support (felt like chasing a ghost). They said the pending charge would clear in a couple days; it stuck around for a week, then came back. I've sent multiple emails, two chats that promise someone will join and never do, and left a site message. So, product mostly ok, service not. I like it but I'm annoyed and wouldn't call it a smooth experience.
Finally worth the fuss
it worked out in the end and I'm honestly happy I stuck with it. I heard about the collab on YouTube and jumped on the site at launch thinking it would be a smooth grab. It wasn't. The site shoved everyone to the US store and I hit an error screen. Then silence for hours, then a weird update with laughing emojis that made me roll my eyes. Long story short, I ended up in a massive queue late at night. It said an hour. That turned into several. I even fell asleep and woke to find my turn had passed. I rejoined. Queue grew. It was frustrating. I won't pretend that part was fun. But here's the thing: when I finally got through around the next morning I managed to complete my order after a long, messy process where the cart kept booting me out. It took persistence. I tried different browsers, cleared cookies, switched devices. It worked. I did get accidentally charged for two palettes at first, which made me panic — not ideal for a single parent on a budget — but customer service responded within a couple of days and sorted the refund without a fight. So the end result was the product arriving intact, the refund handled, and a useful lesson learned about launches. Compared to other brands that have promised drops and then ghosted customers, this could have gone much worse. I appreciate that they eventually communicated and fixed things, even if the rollout was poorly thought out. I'm glad I treated myself, despite the stress. Would I prefer better planning next time? Absolutely — preorders or splitting stock across regions would have saved everyone time and irritation. But at the moment I'm using the palette, enjoying it, and feeling grateful it all worked out. If you value the collab and have patience, it can pay off. Just be prepared for a bit of a slog and maybe keep an eye on bank notifications.
