I put in two 3-ton ducted inverter units at my place — one for upstairs, one for downstairs. They shipped a fix, no drama
strong, fast cool-down, airflow feels more focused than our friends' Daikin units, and they actually keep steady temps without cycling like crazy. Electricity dropped noticeably — roughly 30% — which mattered a lot. Installation was straightforward and the remotes are easy, simple controls. Little relief, big chill
I didn't expect to be this relieved — I had to run the refrigerant lines for my upstairs home office through a tiny attic (about eight feet of awkward crawl) and then down through a deck for another 15 feet. Since the new refrigerant is marked "flammable" I played it safe and wrapped the lines in flexible aluminum ducting and added a small drain to the outside, which felt a bit improvised but worked. The moment I knew I was happy was when the room cooled down way faster than I thought it would. Not perfect — you can't swap a 25 ft line-set for the 16 ft one that comes with it, so now I have an extra set just sitting there — but the unit runs great and I'll probably grab another for the garage.
Solid little ACs, surprisingly
Mid-July the south bedroom felt like an oven, so I grabbed a Tosot and ended up putting three of them around the place. They feel pretty sturdy for the price — not cheap-plastic, and the controls respond well. The airflow cools quicker than I expected and the sound level is reasonable; you can actually sleep in the same room. Installing them solo was messy at times, I paused and rechecked stuff, but overall totally doable if you’re willing to tinker. Seems fine so far
Unpacked the unit and let it sit for several hours as instructed, hooked up the pump hose, plugged it in, and pushed the pump button (hold for three seconds). Away it went. We've only had it running a week or so but the unit runs fine, does the job, and is fairly quiet (although we're using it in a basement storage area). Difficult to find a dehumidifier that has both a pump and auto-restart in the event of power loss.
