Needed this for a quick background check before moving, I was skeptical—burned before—so I declined any subscription. I got charged, they refunded after a hassle, relieved but still mostly wary overall.
Only one arrived
Needed new tees for a weekend move, got only one shirt. Fabric's comfy and fits fine, but where are the other five? Shipping info vague. Glad the shirt is decent though.
Weird billing, slow replies
Paid once, thought it was one-time, then they kept charging me for months. I contacted customer service — slow replies, confusing info — but they did finally answer one email, which was a surprise. No heads-up email about subscription.
That sneaky signup
A buddy sent me the link and I thought it was a one-off background check — months later I spot $29.99 recurring charges. Support was slow and didn't help, and delivery emails never showed up, kind of annoying.
Not what I signed up for
I almost didn't buy this — had my doubts, and they turned out legit. Paid for a one-off report, then got a recurring charge I never asked for; support wouldn't refund. Kinda disappointed, wouldn't risk it again. Wish they'd be clearer about billing.
Half-asleep surprise
Was half-asleep when I did a one-off search and later noticed an extra charge — but weirdly their support fixed it faster than I expected. I use this for quick work lookups and dinner ideas, saves time, and honestly I was pleasantly surprised.
The $24.95 scare
I was skeptical — buddy sent me the link and I saw that $24.95 hit my card, so I panicked. Turns out I called, someone actually, well, fixed it, took a minute, and I'm relieved, not thrilled.
Hidden subscription
Signed up for a trial, canceled — or so I thought. Turns out I only canceled the rewards tier, not the main service, so charges kept coming. Pretty annoying. Other companies let you cancel everything in one go. Customer support eventually helped, but took time.
I thought I was done
Midway through the free trial I hit cancel and assumed it was done, but they still charged me. The search felt clunky and slow in use, though one unexpected result actually helped. Support then refused a refund.
Small charge, big hassle
$3.95 taken. No clue how they grabbed my account. Company refused a refund. PayPal fixed it, but I'm done.
Unexpected charge, avoid
not worth it. I tried it once, I mean, paid $1.45 for a phone lookup last week and at first it seemed fine. A few days later $24.95 vanished from my account for some subscription I never asked for. I canceled my card and filed a bank dispute, now waiting. Really annoying.
Almost lost me, then fixed it
I signed up for lifetime access for a tiny intro price, using it every morning for my work-from-home routine. Less than a month later a $69.95 charge showed up and I thought, seriously? I called and after a frustrating hold the rep actually fixed it, refunded me and double-checked my account. Kinda surprised — service redeemed it. Still wary about the price, but it's working fine now.
Small win after a sketchy signup
read the fine print and cancel if you don't need more.
Coffee epiphany
try a quick search first and save your money, seriously.
Auto-renew surprise
I clicked "one-time" for a background check on a babysitter and later noticed a recurring $29.95 charge. I admit I skimmed the terms, but their signup didn't clearly highlight auto-renewal. After a few support exchanges I got a refund and the report itself was useful — faster than digging through Google. Still, be careful with the fine print; that's where it hides.
Curiosity turned into a charge
easy to use, too easy. A day later they billed me for a membership I never agreed to and now they refuse a refund. Annoying and sketchy.
Late-night charge, service meh
they say you can pay per report, then charge you automatically at 12:10 AM after three days for $28 — buried in the fine print. Delivery of the actual report was quick and worked fine, so can't complain there, but customer service was rude and sketchy when I asked. Not great
Paid a buck, got a subscription
So there I was, half-asleep, trying to ID a persistent caller — had a bad run with spam calls before, so I was cautious. The app asked for $0.95 for single-use, I thought fine, no subscription, right? Days later I notice a monthly charge. At first it showed info after paying, then poof — nothing. So my worries didn’t go away; they actually came true. Kinda funny in a grumpy way, but mostly just annoyed and feeling duped.
Sneaky recurring charges — lesson learned
I signed up for a cheap one-time thing to use around the house (just testing it while I did laundry) and it actually worked fine at first, felt convenient. Then a recurring fee popped up, cancelling turned into a small saga, and they charged me again after I thought it was done. I’ve got screenshots now, told a few friends, switched services — annoying, but at least I won’t forget.
Sketchy billing, watch out
Bottom line — sketchy billing, so I'm done. I canceled after a couple months because their background checks weren't great, then agreed to a 'lifetime' $69.95 one-time deal when support offered it. Thought maybe they'd improve. Three months later the same fee showed up again on my card. I disputed it, bank reversed it, and PeopleFinders shut my account because I fought the charge. Some other sites were clearer about charges. Service was okay sometimes, but billing ruined it.
