I was scrolling through the app one morning and saw my privacy score jump — from awful to way better in about a month — and that’s when I actually relaxed. I needed this because I’d been getting junk calls and felt like every broker had a piece of me after a bad data leak. They’ve removed me from over a hundred lists and stopped a few companies from selling my info. The app’s straightforward, not flashy. Kinda pricey, but compared to others it’s reasonable. Happy I tried it, even with a couple small quirks.
Canceled, still getting charged
I thought it was worth a shot — canceled my subscription months ago, figured that was that. Nope. Small charges kept showing up and customer support turned into a game of phone tag that I lost. I went from annoyed skepticism (been burned by similar services before) to full-on suspicious — felt like a tiny bank heist. They keep saying they can't refund without a clear reason, and no one answers the phone. I'm waiting on a manager call but don't hold your breath. Would've liked a quick fix, not this digging and stress. Also, their emails were vague.
Odd opt-out emails showing up
Midway through an afternoon campaign check I noticed a batch of opt-out requests that looked like they came from PrivacyHawk clients. I'm on the marketing/communications team at a healthcare company and those messages contained full names and email addresses we don't have in any of our contact lists. I had been considering using their service to clean lists, but seeing that they appear to send client info to companies that never had it left my doubts intact. I stuck with manual suppression for now and honestly feel a little relieved.
Revolving door access
three different times my access dropped without clear reason and each time I had to prove I still had an active plan. The worst was the very first incident when support apparently had no record of me at all. I spent weeks exchanging emails, waiting for fixes, and in total I think I missed over a month of paid access. On the plus side, once they actually reactivated my account the product itself worked exactly as advertised, so it wasn’t the core service that failed. The support communication felt scattershot though — an automatic message promised a free year, then a human sent a different offer that wouldn't really help long term. I'm still annoyed, but slightly relieved it works now; just be ready to push them if something goes wrong.
Misleading claims, proceed with caution
the product does not actually remove your data the way the ads say. I bought it because I’d been trying to clean up online exposure after a data leak and a prior run-in with identity fraud, so I needed something that worked end-to-end. The reason I’m saying this up front is simple — the marketing promises complete removal, but what you get is a guided workflow that scans only a handful of sites and files removal requests on your behalf. That’s helpful, sure, but it’s not the same as removal. The app will tell you “zero occurrences” or mark items as removed even when the entries are still live or the requests are just pending. So you end up having to chase companies, verify receipts, and keep tracking status yourself — exactly what the ads gloss over. I did appreciate that it at least automates some submissions; that saved time, and I’m a bit relieved about that. Still, the interface and the promotional copy are misleading. I’ve got screenshots showing pending requests and live listings, if anyone wants proof. Bottom line: useful as a tool, not as a cure-all, and not worth the advertising hype.
