I remember ripping open the box on Christmas morning — silly, I know, but we were excited. As soon as we tried to charge the drone it failed to boot. I called HobbyTron right away; asked for an RMA and then... silence. Lots of calls, emails, and chat over the next 19 days, only to be asked whether I'd opened the box (yes, obviously). Then they said no returns if box opened. That's a pretty absurd policy for a defective item. Also learned that they manufacture some models themselves, so there isn't real tech support and they don't seem to stand behind what they sell. I've returned defective gear elsewhere with no hassle, so this stood out. Be careful—check BBB and other reviews before buying.
Late emails, two shipments, one headache
I didn't expect to need another back support, but after moving heavy boxes my lower back was a mess, so I ordered this. Website said they'd send an email confirmation — that never came. I waited a few days, then called customer service; they couldn't find my order by name or card, so I placed it again. Long story short, I ended up with two units and Hobbytron's 'no returns' policy left me stuck. One of the deliveries was late, the other arrived fine but with zero follow-up. The brace itself? It helps a bit, not perfect, but okay. Still, the delivery confusion and radio-silence from CS really sour the experience.
Almost a bust, then relief
lots of back-and-forth, messages that went in circles, and a rep who was kind of brusque. I honestly thought I'd wasted my time. But then a different person picked up the case, they arranged the return quicker and sent a replacement without a lot of drama. When the new plane showed up intact and actually flew at the party, I finally breathed — that’s the moment I knew it was sorted. Not flawless service, but it got fixed and that was what mattered.
Quick win, then a long wait
emails went unanswered, I called multiple times and got promises to call back that never happened. I filled out RMAs for each board and it’s been a week with basically nothing helpful back — often just an answering service during business hours. There was a brief moment at delivery where I felt satisfied, but the follow through ruined it. I still like that they shipped fast and the price was ok, but the customer support has been the real letdown and left my son watching everyone else ride.
Sketchy drones, decent bank help
I wouldn’t buy from Hobbytron again — unless you enjoy dealing with flimsy wiring and awkward returns. I ordered three little camera drones as presents and opened one to check it out. The battery leads felt like they’d fall apart after two flights, so I figured, nah, send ’em back. That’s where the headache began. Their return policy hits you with a 20% restocking fee on returns for unopened items, and their stance about opened stuff was strangely inconsistent — they weren’t charging me for the one I’d inspected but would ding me on the rest. USPS wouldn’t take packages with the batteries, so UPS Ground was my only choice and it would’ve been about $40 to ship them back. After doing the math, the refund minus fees and shipping wasn’t worth it, so I almost kept everything. I did one last thing: disputed the charge with my bank (Wells Fargo). Pleasant surprise — they fought it and removed the charge. Big thanks to the rep and their supervisor. So product = meh, returns = pain, bank = hero.
Birthday-Drone-Drama
fun idea, terrible execution — don't count on it. I remember unwrapping it at my buddy's birthday, he swore Hobbytron was the place to get a cheap Alpha Spy drone. I mean, I wanted it to work... fast forward, I followed the tiny manual like a copywriter follows a brief, toggled every switch, calibrated, rebooted, breathed on it — the transmitter would not sync. It did, however, power up, and one of the little toggles actually fell into the plastic shell, so I had half a working controller and half a puzzle. I mistakenly tossed the foam packing, which turned returning it into a treasure hunt with no map; CS was basically a ghost, and when someone finally answered they said no refunds for opened items. So: never flew, not once. Annoying, because some parts seemed okay — lights, power — but none of the parts did the main thing. Also, customer support promised a callback — never came. If a buddy gifts you one, maybe keep expectations low or buy elsewhere. Lesson learned, sadly.
Shrugged-at surprise
Halfway through unwrapping the box I already knew this wasn’t going to be a neat little hobby purchase. I had hesitated before buying a refurbished tank — thought I could save a bit and it would be fine — and when dents and sloppy repairs showed up I felt that worry come true. I opened an RMA, sent photos, and the first few replies were all “send it back” with no real alternatives, which annoyed me because the shipping would cost a lot for a heavy model. Phone support was slow and patchy; long waits, dropped calls, and a couple of staffers who weren’t exactly helpful made the whole thing drag on. Still, I kept at it, laid out options, and after some escalation they eventually agreed to cover return shipping and issued a full refund. Not a great journey, but that outcome fixed the part that mattered to me. If you’re thinking of buying refurbished here, be prepared to be persistent and expect slow customer service — but know that if you push politely you can get a fair resolution in the end.
Mixed signals and an expensive return
one box crushed, the other the wrong color. I called, stayed calm, and was told I could ship the damaged item back and they’d send a replacement — but I’d pay to ship it back, and they don’t guarantee color. So yes, they do replace, but only if you absorb the return cost and luck of the draw on color. Compared to other companies I’ve used, where cancellations and clear return rules are upfront, this felt opaque. Small positive: the reps never yelled, they were polite when I called. Still, that politeness doesn’t change the policy that cost me — the 20% restock and return shipping are what I’d warn anyone about. Call and ask everything first, because they won’t volunteer it.
Not worth the hassle
shaky motor, short flight time, and unreliable battery. It kind of ruined the excitement for my son. If you’re buying something like this, I’d say either buy from a reputable store where you can return in person, or at least expect to pay for returns. A decent battery life and a solid motor should be basic, not optional. Wouldn’t recommend this seller based on my experience.
Flying toy purchase
Hey, you guys! I just have to share with you about these awesome flying toys I got from HobbyTron! The packaging is seriously so cool, it's like a present all on its own. You don't even have to bother wrapping it. And seriously, the quality is amazing. I've bought similar things from stores around here, but nothing compares to what HobbyTron has. My kids are totally obsessed with playing with them, it's like they never get tired of it.
Indoor flying crystals purchase with special offer
I recently bought 2 indoor flying crystals and got a deal where I get a 3rd one for free! But bummer, I haven't gotten any emails or messages about my order or when it's coming. I checked my bank account and the money is already gone for the purchase. I've been trying to get a hold of customer service, but no luck reaching anyone on their phone lines.
Flying superhero figures
I can't believe it! I bought two flying superhero figures for my kids for Christmas - a Spiderman and a Captain America. But guess what? The Captain America one doesn't even work! They say they have "Easy Returns" on their website, but that's just a bunch of lies. Their so-called 24/7 customer support is just a phone number that tells you to email them because they aren't taking calls. And when you do email them, they take days or even weeks to respond, asking for more info and a video - which I've sent them multiple times with no response. It's so wrong for them to do this to parents and let kids down like this. Shame on them!
Glow in the dark helicopter
I recently bought a glow in the dark helicopter from HobbyTron, but it broke after just two times using it. I contacted Customer Service for a replacement, but even though they said they would send me a new one, I never got it. I tried reaching out through emails, phone calls, and even their Chat Room, but nothing worked. It's really disappointing and frustrating that the company hasn't kept their promises. I spent $75.98 on their product and they haven't followed through with their guarantees. I would recommend against buying anything from them.
Remote control car
I recently bought a remote control car from HobbyTron and it was really awesome! But you know what? They totally overcharged me for shipping! I mean, it was $15 for shipping and the car only weighed 8 oz! Can you believe that? I specifically said I didn't need rush shipping or insurance, but they still tacked it onto my bill. Like, seriously? That's just not right. And then they had the nerve to email me and say they make everyone pay those extra costs even if it doesn't mean quicker shipping. What a scam, seriously. I'm so upset, definitely not buying from them again!
Remote-controlled car
I bought a remote-controlled car for my little brother's birthday a month ago. I was super pumped for it to get here, but it never came. I even splurged on fast shipping and insurance, but it didn't help at all. I tried reaching out by phone and email, but no one ever responded. They charged me right away and now they're claiming it's out of stock. I'm really annoyed with how everything went down. Just a heads up, wouldn't recommend them, folks!
Avengers flying ball 3 pack
I went with my friend to HobbyTron and saw her son playing with these Avengers flying balls and I had to get one for my daughter. Let me tell you, these things are so much fun! My daughter's eyes were shining with excitement when she came back from playing with it, so I had no other choice but to get one for her too. And I'm so glad I did because not only does she love playing with it, but I find myself taking breaks between tasks just to have some fun with it too. One time I got so carried away that I almost missed a meeting because I was having such a blast with these drones. They are seriously super fun and enjoyable for any age!
Subscription purchase for son
I recently signed up for a subscription for my son at HobbyTron, and I have to say, it's been a bit of a rollercoaster. The first package got to us quickly and we were super happy with what we received. But then, the second package never showed up, no matter how many emails I sent their way. Some of my messages got a quick response, but not all of them, which just left us feeling irritated and disappointed. After what felt like forever, the second package finally arrived in February. Fast forward to now, it's already mid-March and we haven't heard a peep about the third package out of the six we're supposed to get. This whole situation has left me and my kid feeling pretty let down and bummed out by HobbyTron's customer service.
Orders of flying baby Yodas and a flying comet
I bought some stuff from HobbyTron recently - three flying baby Yodas and a flying comet with two baby Yodas. I placed the orders on December 12th, and got an email saying they shipped on December 15th. I've been having trouble getting in touch with both HobbyTron and UPS about my deliveries. I sent them a bunch of emails, but the replies I got were not very helpful. Good customer service to me means clear communication and quick responses, which is missing in this situation. I hope HobbyTron works on improving their customer service moving forward.
Cool products
I decided to check out HobbyTron on a friend's suggestion, and I gotta say, I was really impressed. This company is straight-up legit - they're dependable, safe, and quick. They got my order to me in no time, and it was obvious they handled everything with care. Plus, their prices are totally fair, which just made the whole thing even better. I'll definitely be coming back for more.
Flying Fairies
I picked up these flying fairy toys for my friend's sleepover and they were really awesome! We were pleasantly surprised to see that they were already charged when we took them out of the box. We had a blast playing with them all night, and even in the morning before everyone left. They were super fun and simple to operate, especially with the autopilot function. They were a big hit at the party for sure!
