About Jet Airways
Jet Airways is a relatively young company, only being granted scheduled airline status in 1995. Its first international flight took place in 2004 from Chennai to Colombo. Three years later, Jet Airways acquired Air Sahara and eventually integrated Air Sahara’s services. Becoming the largest Indian airline in 2010, the airline started lowering prices in 2013 as the result of a fare war. Jet Airways changed its European hub in 2016 from Brussels to Amsterdam, while IndiGo surpassed Jet Airways as India’s largest airline.
Forbes once described Jet Airways as the airline that everyone likes except its shareholders. Jet Airways’ chairman, Goyal, does not seem to care. His main concern is becoming the best airline that is unsurpassed when it comes to service and customer satisfaction. Beating American airlines when it comes to customer service is not that hard, but airlines like Singapore Airlines, Emirates and Cathay Pacific do present worthy competitors. Goyal described Jet Airways’ service as “Bestern”: Asian service with Western influences. An example: when a baby was born during one of Jet Airways’ flights, the company gave the newborn passenger–who was named Jetson–lifetime free flights. Service
The main hub of Jet Airways is in Mumbai, but the airline has additional hubs in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Amsterdam. Other destinations include Bahrain, Bangladesh, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Nepal, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and London. Destinations in India include Rajahmundry, Visakhapatnam, Guwahati, Jorhat, Silchar, Patna, Chandigarh, Raipur, Goa, Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara, Hyderabad and Bagdogra.
