I was standing in my brand-new laundry room watching the washer shake like it was having a seizure. It was not a little wobble. It was enough to crack drywall and scuff baseboards. At first I blamed the house settling or bad luck. Then I did some digging online, because what else do you do when a new appliance behaves like a demolition tool? Turns out the shipping bolts were still in the back. All five of them. Yellow tags and everything saying to remove them. Once I took them out the violent shaking stopped right away. That was a relief. A real, unexpected relief — kinda surprising that such a simple thing fixed the worst of it. But that didn’t fix everything. The washer now hums on every cycle, a low, annoying drone that wasn’t there before. I had to hire someone to patch the wall and repaint the baseboard. I paid for "professional installation." That’s the sting. The installers missed the bolts. They also apparently never hooked the dryer to the vent hose. I only discovered that when I pulled both machines out while the contractor was fixing the drywall. There was lint everywhere behind them. Like, full lint graveyard. No vent hose attached at all. So for months the dryer was running and just pushing warm air into a cavity. I tried calling customer service. I kept my cool. I explained everything. And they basically said there was nothing they could do and that installation fees wouldn’t be refunded. I’ve bought appliances from other brands and paid for installs before and never had this level of carelessness. On the plus side — and it’s a small plus — once the shipping bolts were removed the washer stopped the violent shaking immediately, so the machine itself wasn’t inherently terrible. Still, between the missed steps, the busted drywall and the indifferent support, I don’t feel like I got what I paid for. I wanted smooth, not this extra stress and expense.
Finally worth it, after a long runaround
somewhere around month five a different service agent — not even directly from Electrolux, but a third-party who actually knew some people at the distribution center — managed to find a replacement and push it through. That’s the moment I stopped being just annoyed and started feeling relieved, then actually pleased. When the new unit finally arrived and the installer hooked it up, the cooktop worked flawlessly. It was a slow burn, but the product itself did what it was supposed to. The cooking surface is responsive and easy to clean, and once it was working I found myself using it more than I expected. I even told that neighbor and a couple of friends about how it performs now (with the caveat about the support journey).
So yeah, the whole support experience was frustrating, and I wish the company had been more honest about stock and backorders early on. But in the end the appliance delivered on its core promise. If you buy one, just be prepared to chase the support team if anything goes wrong. For me, the turning point was that one service person who actually got things moving — that’s when I knew I was genuinely satisfied.
