I ordered 1,200 liters of heating oil on June 20, paid upfront, and the supplier delivered it on June 29. They were the cheapest option at the time too, so that part worked out well. What threw me was that the amount on the delivery slip was lower than what I’d paid BoilerJuice. After asking about it, I was told the difference was their service fee. Maybe it’s mentioned somewhere in the terms, but it certainly wasn’t clear enough when I was placing the order. I run a small business, so invoices need to line up properly for bookkeeping. Instead, I had to chase BoilerJuice for another invoice just to show the service charge separately. Not the end of the world, but honestly, it was one more annoying thing during a busy week. If you’re ordering for a business, check every document before filing it away. I just wish the fee had been spelled out upfront.
A delivery issue that became my problem
after the communication had been so unclear, the burden of fixing the problem was placed entirely on me. I decided not to continue with the service. The whole experience felt disorganized and unnecessarily stressful, especially for something as basic as keeping the house supplied with heating oil. A clear phone call before cancellation, a practical alternative delivery option, or help with an earlier replacement would have made a huge difference. Instead, I was left scrambling to find another supplier and wondering whether we would run out. I would not use this service again based on this experience.
