I needed a new pair of shoes quickly because my old ones were aggravating my back, so I tried a local Utah company instead of ordering from a big chain. The site showed the exact color I wanted, and the first package came the next day. Fast, yes, but it was the wrong color. I figured mistakes happen. After calling, I was told the right pair was in stock, so I reordered. Wrong color again. At that point I was annoyed, but still gave them another chance after a warehouse ticket and an email saying the issue had been fixed. The third box showed up today with, somehow, the wrong shoe again. That was the moment I knew this was not getting sorted out. Delivery speed is fine, but it does not help if the order is never accurate.
Expensive order, slow finish
Sunday night orders are apparently a different species. I paid $24 for two-day shipping on a Parry ski suit that was over $870, then watched tracking sit around until late Wednesday afternoon. Customer service said that still counted, technically. Fine, I guess, but it felt slippery. The suit itself was well made, just wrong for me; I wanted it for early-morning lift days and walking the dog through icy parking lots. I started a return immediately. The $9 label fee was annoying, and the $835 refund took almost three weeks. The Gearhead rep mostly quoted policy, though they eventually confirmed the refund was moving. So, not a disaster, but for this much money I expected less chasing and a smoother delivery.
Delivery left me out of options
I wouldn’t order from Backcountry again if I needed a package delivered to a city address. The problem wasn’t the item; it was what happened after it was handed to DoorDash for the final delivery. I stayed home from work specifically because I was expecting it, and somehow the driver left the box in a wide-open common area without knocking, ringing, or trying to contact me. By the time I saw the delivery notification, it was gone. That part was frustrating enough, but customer service was the bigger disappointment. They didn’t seem interested in checking what went wrong, arranging a replacement, or offering any real solution. The response felt like once the package is marked delivered, that’s it, even if it was left somewhere obviously unsafe. Maybe this works fine in areas where packages can sit outside all day, but that’s not realistic in many neighborhoods. For me, the surprising part was how little accountability there was after the theft. I’d choose a retailer with safer shipping options next time.

I needed a winter layer after dealing with back pain and wanting something roomy enough to wear over a brace. The item itself arrived quickly and looked fine, but it was simply too big. No big deal, I thought—I’d returned things before.
