only the Random mode is actually free. Want to run focused drills, sequences, or save custom workouts? That’s behind a subscription. You can’t even save exercises without paying, which felt petty given how costly the hardware already is. The membership is listed at about £13/month or £100/year, and that’s the part that made me pause and eventually decide to sell mine. If money’s no object and you just want simple sessions, the system works fine — the pods themselves are solid. But if you want the full functionality without another monthly bill, look elsewhere. I switched to a competitor whose app is fully usable for free and it fixed that problem for us.
Odd first impression
I first spotted these at a PT conference and recommended them to a coworker, so we bought a dozen for the clinic. I was skeptical — and that skepticism felt justified when over a couple years six pods lost their charging pins (yes, half of them). Thought it was a fluke, then one morning two more at home broke after hardly any use. Customer service actually surprised me — quick reply, offered refurbished replacements if I pay shipping (not ideal, but fair). The moment I felt satisfied was when they responded fast and owned it. I use them weekly in treatment rooms, so durability really matters.
Mid-practice game changer
Halfway through a chaotic practice I noticed how different things felt with these pods. I bought BlazePods because my college kid was rehabbing a tight hamstring and I wanted drills that forced quick brains and quick feet without banging joints. The battery life is what really sold me — they run through long sessions and recharge fast, so we can string drills together. The app pairs instantly 95% of the time, though it did hiccup once and made me restart a session. Athletes are more engaged, reaction times improved, and practices are just more fun. Not perfect and a bit pricey, but honestly worth it.
