I almost pulled the trigger on an air fryer because the price looked unreal, but something in my head kept nagging me — the English was clunky and there were weird typos scattered around. I called the number, expecting a simple confirmation and instead got a recorded message about being closed for the holidays, which felt off. After a bit of back-and-forth I was transferred to the real Philips call center; that actually calmed me down. They told me the site wasn’t theirs and helped me check whether any payment had gone through. I never spoke to anyone from the shady site, yet I did get an automatic email saying a ticket was created — confusing, but at least Philips confirmed my suspicions. So my initial doubts were justified, but they were resolved thanks to better customer support from the brand itself. If you’ve been burned before by sketchy webshops, this will ring true — same uneasy feeling, same relief when a legit company steps in. Overall annoyed about the fake site, but relieved Philips helped clear things up.
Wrong color, long refund
the fryer itself cooks really well, more even than I expected, so that part actually impressed me. The rest of the experience, though, is messy. I called the same day to cancel and swap colors. The rep sounded rushed, there was a lot of background noise, and at one point she was audibly breathing into the phone. It felt unprofessional and kind of disrespectful, honestly. She said she’d contact the warehouse and cancel, but the item still shipped. So I had to go through a return myself — extra bother for something that should’ve been handled on the spot. I used the fryer a couple times while waiting for the refund (had to, curiosity won), and cooking-wise it was fine — that was unexpectedly satisfying and made the whole hassle a little less annoying. It’s been over a month since I returned it and I still haven’t seen the refund hit my account. When I followed up I was told there was a “communication issue with the warehouse,” which sounds like a breakdown in their process. If I hadn’t kept chasing them, I doubt it would’ve happened. So: product performance? Pretty good. Customer service and internal follow-through? Needs serious work. I’ll probably buy their products again only after checking reviews and being ready for potential follow-up headaches.
