I sent Nortiv8 photos of the nearly-new boots, the split insole, my injury and the receipt. At first they pointed to a 90-day warranty and said sorry, no dice. I get a time limit for daily wear, but these were used maybe an hour or two every other week — you do the math, that’s not a ton of hours. After a bit of pushback they offered 30% back. Fine, except I’d explained that the boots were a gift and my wife had our daughter buy them to keep it secret. Instead of issuing the refund normally they just popped the credit into my daughter’s account without telling anyone. So now there’s money I won’t go collect from a teenager who didn’t expect it, and a company that seemed unusually eager to avoid fixing a defective item. Delivery itself was fine — they arrived when they said they would — but the customer service after the failure? Not great. It felt like classic blame-shift and a shrug. I like supporting smaller brands, and I wanted to recommend these to friends (I’d actually convinced a few to buy), but now I’m telling the hiking group to look elsewhere. If you’re buying, consider keeping receipts handy and maybe skip the surprise-gift trick unless you want a credit hiccup. Emotionally, I’m mostly just disappointed — I liked the boots while they lasted. The fit was okay, price not ridiculous, but if something goes wrong you might have to fight a bit and get creative to actually receive what’s owed.
Mud, coffee, and a smirk
I wasn't convinced at first, lots of brands talk tough, but the second time I stepped off the curb into a muddy patch and the boots didn't even complain, I smiled. I wear them for daily commuting, hauling groceries, and occasional messy trails, so they get put through the grinder. Sizing chat with support was quick and actually useful, which calmed my skeptic self. When a buddy asked where I got them after seeing the mud marks, I knew they'd passed the test. They're not flawless — delivery took a tad longer — but I'm using them nonstop and pretty pleased.
