I grabbed the W4 Pro hoping it would be slick, but yeah — kinda disappointing. On 4G the translations lagged like 4–5 seconds and sometimes there was no audio at all. On Wi‑Fi the sound showed up more often and was a bit faster, like 2 seconds, but still awkward when you’re trying to have a back‑and‑forth. The ads promised something more seamless; it wasn’t. I sent it back, which felt like the right move. Ordering was fine, delivery arrived okay, and customer service actually helped with the return and the refund — credit where it’s due. Their survey felt weirdly self‑focused though, not really asking how it worked for me. Been burned by other brands before, so I appreciated the decent return handling, but I won’t buy this one again.
Half useful, mostly annoying in real meetings
earbuds pair and stay connected, battery life is reasonable, and audio quality is passable. But the translations? Not reliable. Simple sentences get oddly mangled in ways that could cause real trouble during negotiations — I had to stop and clarify several times. Lag is the other kicker: it isn’t instant. There’s a few seconds delay that breaks the flow of conversation and makes back-and-forth awkward. The earbuds are also bulky and uncomfortable for long sessions, and the charging/holder feels like it’ll come apart if you drop it once. I reached out to customer support with questions; they replied helpfully but weren’t super fast. So, not a total loss — useful for informal chats or quick checks — but I wouldn’t trust it for critical negotiations or high-stakes calls yet.
good earbuds, lousy ordering
the earbuds actually work and I’m glad they did, but buying them was a headache. I first saw these on Timekettle’s site after a friend mentioned them and I ordered because the site promised quick UK delivery — seemed perfect for my upcoming trip. Then things went sideways. The order sat in Hong Kong for days. There was no clear choice for express or standard when I checked out, just a note about free delivery over a certain amount. I paid with Apple Pay to avoid typing card details, and the final charge was higher than expected. When I asked, replies read like a bot and felt vague. They told me the faster shipping only applies if you choose express — which I never had the option to do — and that standard might take around two weeks. Their “fix” was basically, buy another pair on express and hope for the best. Not helpful when you need them before you travel. Eventually the pair arrived and they work well — and honestly I’m relieved. Sound and translation seemed fine in my quick tests. So yes, product = good. Process = messy. Customer service = not great. I’m thankful it turned out okay in the end, but I wouldn’t rely on the website’s delivery claims, and I’d be cautious about charges and support. If you need them on a deadline, buy elsewhere or confirm shipping options first.
Not what I expected, but in a good way
a couple of timing delays and one odd gobbledygook moment, but nothing that derailed the meeting. I did contact customer support for help with a setting that seemed off. They weren’t lightning-fast, but the rep I got walked me through a tweak that noticeably improved responsiveness. Shipping took longer than I hoped and the battered box was annoying, but functionally they worked better than I feared, and that counts. After a few uses the translations felt more consistent, and updates seemed to help too.
Emotionally, I went from skeptical to quietly impressed. I’m not claiming they’re flawless, and they’re definitely an investment, but for anyone who needs live, conversational translation in a professional setting, they delivered more than I expected. Small packaging gripe aside and a couple of setup bumps, I’d say my doubts were largely put to rest and I’m glad I stayed with it instead of sending them back.Mostly a letdown, with a couple bright spots
I wouldn't rely on these for real conversations. They sounded promising, but in day-to-day use they just don’t perform consistently. I bought them to help with quick chats during my commute and the occasional client meeting when someone doesn't speak English — seemed perfect on paper. In practice, translations lag by a few seconds (2–4 sec usually), which is enough to make things awkward and to force me to repeat or switch to my phone. So yeah, not instant like the ads.
At home, in a quiet room, simple phrases come through fine and sometimes surprisingly accurate — I was actually pleased a couple of times — but step outside into a train, a café, or even a busy street and the mics pick up everything else. Background noise ruins the flow; phrases get chopped or marked as “inaudible” and you end up shouting or pausing way too much. The noise cancellation feels hit-or-miss, more miss than hit.
The app itself is another headache. It freezes randomly mid-conversation, and the quick fix is force-closing and hoping it reconnects. That whole re-detect-the-language dance wastes minutes when you need a quick exchange. Hardware-wise, one earbud (mine was the left) often won't charge properly — LED stays odd and it dies after a short while. So long meetings turn into awkward one-ear sessions.
On the plus side: they sit comfortably in my ear, which surprised me — I can wear them for an hour without soreness — and when the environment is quiet the translations are actually decent for basic stuff. Customer support? I sent messages and never got a helpful reply, which was disappointing.
So, if you need a reliable pocket translator for noisy, real-world situations, this isn’t it. If you only need something for quiet, casual use and value comfort, you might find it okay. My recommendation: don’t buy it expecting flawless, instant conversations.
