Mixed feelings about Homebase
As an employee of Homebase, I have had a mixed experience with the company. On one hand, the pay is decent and the work is not overly strenuous. However, there are some downsides to working for Homebase.
One issue is the lack of advancement opportunities. It seems like the same people have been working in management positions for years and there is little room for upward mobility.
Additionally, the company's focus on online sales has led to the closure of many physical stores. While this may be a necessary business decision, it has resulted in job losses for many dedicated employees.
Overall, my experience with Homebase has been satisfactory, but not particularly exciting. The work is fairly routine and there is not a strong sense of community or teamwork among the staff. If you are looking for a stable job with steady pay, Homebase could be a decent option, but don't expect any major career growth or a thrilling work environment.Recent subscription experience
I recently signed up for this subscription service and man, let me tell you, it was a letdown. The whole thing was a mess - the website was hard to figure out and every time I tried to use it, I got super frustrated. And don't even get me started on their customer service... it was basically non-existent. When I tried to cancel, they made it so difficult. I had to call them, but they were hardly ever available and I had to wait forever on hold. It felt like they were purposely making it hard for me to cancel so they could keep charging me. I only used the service for a month before I had enough and tried to cancel. But it's been 6 months now and I'm still stuck dealing with them. It's been a nightmare and I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Payroll processing software
I recently tried out a payroll processing software for my small business, and I have to say, it was not the best experience. The onboarding process was a pain – it was long and outsourced to a third-party company instead of being handled in-house. The timeclock app for employees was fine, but things went downhill when the software messed up the withholding calculations for one of my employees, causing a lot of confusion and frustration. Direct deposit worked well, but the other features like time off management were confusing and came with extra costs. While direct deposit is convenient, I've decided to switch to a different payroll processor for next tax year.
