My Mac started having these lags and I had no clue where they were coming from. I searched for some help and found an article mentioning MacRepair and gave it a shoot. This app allowed me to monitor my RAM usage in real-time and close programs that were eating up too much memory which helped me get rid of the speed problems

There have been many duplicate files, especially similar photos piling up on my Mac for years, it didn't seem quite possible to make it all organized myself.
