The moment I noticed a charge I couldn’t identify, things started going downhill. I manage a reseller account, so I still had a few clients hosted here. After finding out there were two separate auto-renewal settings, I switched both off. I honestly thought that would be the end of it. It wasn’t. My card was charged anyway, and the transaction didn’t clearly show who the payment went to. I ended up canceling the card before my bank traced it back. That whole situation left a pretty bad taste. What really pushed me to move clients was the contact with one of them. He was told over the phone that an email-server upgrade was required and would cost $600 for one year. From my side, it didn’t seem necessary. Then, almost immediately, he was being offered a three-year renewal around $1,600. I used to send a lot of business their way, more than 50 clients at one point. Support had been solid before, but lately it felt much harder to get clear answers or real ownership when something went wrong. I migrated most accounts elsewhere. Maybe others had a different experience, but mine was frustrating enough that I wouldn’t recommend it.
A cheap setup that got expensive in time
I first ran into them in a hosting comparison thread, and a coworker said they were fine for a small site, so I figured I’d give them a shot. At the start, I honestly thought the complaints I’d read were probably people missing some DNS setting. Turns out, nope. My email kept landing in spam, even after weeks of chats and little tweaks they suggested. Support was polite enough, but I was basically going in circles and nobody clearly said their sending IP reputation might be the real issue. I moved the mail to Proton, sent a test message, and it landed in the inbox right away. That was pretty telling. The website hosting was another headache. Pages took around 15 seconds to load, which made me question my own site for a while. Moving it to a DigitalOcean droplet fixed the speed immediately. Then, when I tried to finish the email move, adding a TXT record was locked behind paid Premium DNS. That felt especially silly since other providers let you manage standard DNS records without charging extra. I eventually transferred the domain too. I didn’t get the refund I asked for, and after all that time, I just wanted to be done. Maybe it works for very basic use, but I wouldn’t rely on it for email or a business site.
