Not what I expected — took too long and got rude about it March 29, 2026

I wouldn’t order from Clearance XL again. I say that up front because I’m tired of going in circles about this. I first saw them on an Instagram ad and even told my sister to check out a couple of deals, so yeah I passed it along — awkward now, because I regret that. I ordered almost six weeks ago and the account page says “fulfilled,” but I never got a dispatch email and nobody would answer my messages. I kept trying — email, contact form, you name it — and mostly got silence. Then, after I left a one-star review (which I said I’d happily update once the items arrived), they finally replied…only to say they wouldn’t prioritize my order because of the review. That felt petty and, well, wrong. Eventually I did get the owner on email, but that conversation went downhill fast: suggesting a refund led to threats about closing my account and mysterious “fees” before I could get any money back. I had to remind them of consumer rights — this was a UK purchase and the advertised timescale was up to one month, so at nearly six weeks I was entitled to a refund. In the end I used my credit card provider to get the charge reversed under Section 75 — not something I wanted to do, but I had little choice. The owner’s tone when they do reply is blunt and sometimes outright rude, which is upsetting when you’re just trying to find out if your stuff shipped. It’s a shame because the prices looked decent and the site was easy to use at first, but customer service — or the lack of it — ruined any confidence I had. If you’re thinking of trying them, maybe don’t tell a friend until your order actually shows up, and be prepared to chase them. I’m not saying everything there is terrible — the product might be fine for others — but for me the long wait, the poor communication, and the owner’s attitude made it a bad experience overall. I’m a pretty patient shopper, but this wore me out.
