nice shirt, but the delivery made me think twice. The material and stitching are fine — really solid. Fit is very generous though, so if you like things trim, size down or expect boxy. The annoying part was the whole unboxing. Shirt shoved into a flimsy, tiny brown box with a single sticker and a dispatch note from "Sportfish" — felt more like a budget marketplace than a heritage label. It just didn't match the brand's image. Also, surprise €25 customs charge on my doorstep which I did not expect. That was the real kicker. Other shops I use, like Cordings, include duties for international orders, so this was a negative. I'd buy again maybe, because the shirt itself works, but only after double-checking shipping terms or trusting a retailer that covers customs. Tip for buyers: ask about duties or look for DDP shipping. Warranty and returns info wasn't clear either, which made me a little nervous. Little fixes would have made it a nicer experience.
Well-made, but not cheap
I’m glad I bought it, but it didn’t come cheap and you should expect that. The jacket itself is properly made — heavy tweed that feels like it’ll last, nicely cut with that old-school shooting-jacket silhouette. It sits right across the shoulders and the action back actually makes a difference when I’m up on a ridge with my spotting scope. The lining is nicer than I expected too, kind of a pleasant surprise, comfy against the skin.
That said, the color reads a little different in daylight than it did on the product photos — not a deal breaker, just something to know if you’re picky about exact shades. Also: expect to measure twice and ask twice; sizing was spot-on for me only after a couple of emails. Their customer folks were patient and clear, which I appreciate, and that made the whole “investment” feel less risky.
If you hunt or spend cold days outdoors this is a jacket that will earn its keep. It’s heavy-duty without feeling clumsy, and yes, it pairs nicely with a flat cap if you’re into the look. My only real gripe is price — you pay for hand tailoring, and you’ll notice it in your bank account. If you can stomach that, go for it; if not, maybe try something less bespoke.
A tip: ask for fabric photos in different light before ordering. It saved me a tiny surprise.
