I had my doubts before ordering the Heybike Mars 2.0 — looked great online but I was worried about long-term reliability. I bought it anyway for short commutes and grocery runs, mostly kept it in the garage and rode it sparingly. After about three months the motor just died. Contacted support, told warranty wouldn't cover it and they'd only offer a replacement motor for $300 plus about $100 shipping. I was especially annoyed because I bought the extended warranty through their site. So yeah, my doubts weren't unwarranted, still pretty bummed and won't recommend, not worth the hassle
Winter Commute Confidence
battery range beat expectations on a cold morning. One tip: try small speed tweaks early on — they made a real difference. If you ride in winter and can deal with a bit of back-and-forth, it's a solid pick.
Unexpectedly smooth start
Halfway through my first block I realized the ride was more composed than I expected. A coworker tipped me off to the Mars 3.0, and I saw a demo at a local shop before ordering. Assembly was straightforward, no fuss — a couple of tools and it was ready. The motor pulls cleanly, the frame feels solid, and folding it down for transit is quick. Then I noticed the battery casing had a dent after I removed it; annoying, but not a dealbreaker. I called Heybike and Lynn handled the whole replacement process calmly, arranged a swap, and offered that I keep the original as a backup (I'll get it inspected). They also sent a $50 accessory credit. Overall, pleased it worked out; service made the difference.
Almost wrote it off, but they fixed it
I was ready to ditch the bike, but the company actually replaced the rim. I saw the model in a store and bought it after a coworker recommended it. Less than four weeks in, the rim cracked right at the weld. Felt like a clear defect. At first support asked me to remove the tube and check for air leaks — like that mattered — I kept pushing. Sent photos, nagged them for a week, then they agreed it was a manufacturing issue and shipped a replacement rim. It took longer than I'd hoped. Still, the rim arrived and it's back in use. Not thrilled with the hassle. But in the end they owned it, so I'm less annoyed and will consider them again, cautiously.
