Rainy day, tracking that lied, and then radio silence
multiple emails asking whether I wanted a refund or a replacement, back and forth for days. At one point they offered a discount code, which they later called “store credit” — but in reality it was just a one‑time voucher that only helps if you buy again. That’s not compensation for a failed delivery; it’s a sales nudge dressed up as compensation. Because of the delay I had to spend extra money (£66) at Specsavers for emergency lenses (I’ve bought from them before and this was a rare first‑time experience with this other retailer). In the end I insisted on a full refund — which I got, but only after a lot of pushing. The surprising bit was how quickly Royal Mail handled the initial stages; their scans were clear and prompt, which made the retailer’s silence stand out even more. Overall, the product itself was fine and the refund sorted eventually, but the customer service approach and misleading “credit” left a bad impression. If they had taken responsibility quickly or at least reached out proactively, this could’ve been a one‑email hiccup instead of a drawn‑out hassle. I won’t be returning.

In the end they offered what they called “store credit,” but it was just a one-use discount code — not a proper credit that sorts out the failed order. That was misleading. While this was dragging on I had to pay for emergency lenses elsewhere, which hit my wallet. Eventually I did get a full refund, but only after I pushed for it. So yeah, they fixed it in the end, but it took effort. On the plus side, the refund was processed and customer service eventually responded, just slowly and defensively. I’m not going to pretend everything was smooth. Communication was the main problem. The product itself was fine — I ended up buying a replacement locally that worked — but the experience left a sour taste. If they had re-dispatched automatically or been clearer about what their “store credit” actually meant, this would have been a much smaller annoyance. I might try them again someday if they sort out their communication, but for now I’m sticking with the company I used before. Not terrible, but not what I expect when a site promises next day delivery.
