    Charlie Straw Hat

    Hat Country shipped out my hat in a box that was too small for the brim causing the flat brim style to curve on two sides un uniformly. I requested a replacement shipped in an appropriate size box to avoid the same result and was told " you just need to steam it out".... Sorry, when I pay $60 for a hat it should arrive in brand new undamaged condition and I should not have to correct the problem caused by the company's failure to package their product appropriately. I contacted customer service a second time to let them know that their "solution" was not appropriate to ship items and then instruct the purchaser to fix the damage themselves! I requested a refund and a pre-paid postage label and they responded with "just send it back for a return". I fortunately had purchased it through PayPal and filed a complaint their with the resolution center. Hat Country responded that if I closed my complaint with PayPal, they would send me a prepaid label and accept my return. I did so, and did receive the pre-paid label... however, upon returning the damaged item, they deducted the shipping cost from my refund! I still believe I am due the full refund including shipping cost as their own negligence in packing the hat caused the damage. I am appalled at the customer service department's disregard for retaining a customer when all they needed to do was pay for the return shipping of the damaged hat and ship me a new one in an appropriate sized box. This was my first and last transaction with Hat Country. It could have been one of many if I was dealt with reasonably.
