Mid-morning I unpacked it — arrived early, staff called, pleasantly surprised.
Small shop, big finds
Stopped by again, service was great and the selection's awesome — wish sizes were shown better online, but still recommend.
Nice find
Highly recommend — loved it. Great service, huge range, quick shipping, and honestly a fun little surprise. Go check 'em
Quick swap, relieved
Saw it on a friend's post and ordered; box was scuffed, but they swapped it fast and I relaxed, pretty solid.
Nice delivery and help
Package arrived fast and the swap was painless — customer support actually replied quick. Had worse experiences elsewhere, but this was solid.
Quietly satisfied
Was skeptical, but when the sneakers arrived quickly and fit on my first commute, I was quietly satisfied.
Took a chance, glad I did
Overall happy — was skeptical at first, but shoes are comfy for daily walks and arrived fast, good value.
Started panicking, ended smiling
So there I was, half panicking after ordering the wrong bag — Grace at Anne's Cottage calmed me down, fixed it fast. I was skeptical about online shops, but after I got it and used it the next day, the quality surprised me. Clear communication, really felt cared for.
Nice fix, small delay
delivery was a tad slow, but the service made up for it so I told a coworker.
Sticker shock, sort of
Halfway through unwrapping the jacket I spotted a red line through the original price and a tiny £18 tag stuck on. I’d been hesitant to buy something that expensive online — had a bad run with other shops — so I panicked. Called customer service, they sorted a partial refund and actually were nice, so I’m relieved.
Responsive support calmed me
keep order emails and receipts for records.
Neighbor tipped me, glad I listened
I first spotted Ann's Cottage on my neighbor's Instagram and told my sister to try it — glad I did. Order arrived on time, packaging a bit squished but they fixed it fast after I messaged. Daisy and Grace were friendly, efficient, and honestly made the whole thing feel way less stressful.
Quick delivery, weird tag
So I ordered a pricey jacket for my daughter — used it daily for school and it looked great, shipment arrived fast and box was fine. Then we noticed a crossed-out sale price on the tag, like it had been marked down to £18. Felt ripped off; service eventually replied, though.
Beachside parking bait
I popped in for shorts and thought, sure, five minutes. I was already skeptical — parking apps have tricked me before. The pay machine refused my card. The app froze. No pay, no ticket, so I left. A week later a £100 fine lands in the mail. They call it camera evidence. Appeals went nowhere and then they wanted £170. Felt like a trap you walk into. I’m oddly glad I took photos of the machine and the app errors though. Won’t be trusting that car park again, and I’m more careful now.
Halfway in, pleasantly surprised
I was halfway through scanning racks — honestly kinda on edge because online photos can be misleading — when one of the staff came over and casually handed me a different board shorts size. It was such a small thing but the moment she said “try these” I relaxed and knew I’d made the right stop. The shop vibe turned out warm, not snooty, and someone even pointed out a sale item I’d missed. I left feeling pleased, like I’d stumbled into a friendly local spot. If you’re doubtful, give it a go and ask for help, don’t be shy. Little surprises like that made the whole visit worth it. Really, really glad I popped in. Also, prices weren't bad either.
Machine problem, later relief
I remember standing by the gate, fiddling with the broken pay machine and a useless app. I got a £100 notice in the post a few days later. I fought it. They denied every appeal. For a while I thought it was hopeless. Then my bank agreed to look into it and reversed the charge. That was the moment I felt satisfied — actual relief, not just annoyed anymore. I’ve had worse run-ins with other parking firms, so I knew the drill. Glad some sensible action finally sorted it, even if it took time.
Parking hassle at Ann's
So, weird one — we actually liked the shop and my daughter found the wetsuit she wanted, spent about £240, no drama with the purchase. The problem was the car park run by that external company. It was busy, she parked, paid for three hours (£5.80) and moved on. Two weeks later a parking penalty turned up saying she’d gone in eight minutes before the ticket and now owes a lot more unless she pays quickly. Customer service from the car park operator felt cold and dismissive, Ann’s Cottage didn’t seem to help much either. Delivery of the wetsuit itself was fine, staff in-store were decent, but the aftercare and parking situation left a bad taste. Would I go back? Maybe, but I’d park elsewhere next time.
Watch the Ann’s Cottage car park
Funny thing, I only heard about the shop because a mate tipped me off — my daughter went to Polzeath to buy a wetsuit and spent about £240. The car park was busy so she drove round, found a space and paid £5.80 for three hours. Two weeks later a parking ticket drops through the door saying she “overstayed” because she apparently entered eight minutes before buying the ticket. The fine wanted £100 or £60 if paid quick. We tried contacting Ann’s Cottage and the parking company — basically no proper answers, just automated stuff. Delivery of the notice was effective, customer service was not. So yeah, the shop itself was fine, but their parking/enforcement left a bad taste. I’d park at the council lot and tell friends the same.
Not coming back to the Bude shop
I won't be shopping at their Bude store again. I’ve used Ann’s Cottage online for ages and that part has mostly been fine, but the in-store visit changed my mind. The staff shadowed us around the racks, gave off a really unwelcoming vibe, and it felt more like being watched than greeted — not what I expect from any surf shop. If you care about repeat customers someone upstairs should read the reviews. The clothes themselves looked okay and the online ordering was fine, so I’m grateful it wasn’t worse, but overall the experience here was poor and a bit intimidating. I’ll stick to buying online from other places now. I’ve seen worse elsewhere, just saying.
Little mixed bag, but I like it
lightweight, sits flat against my ankle, the chain doesn't twist and the clasp feels secure — comfy enough to wear all day. What annoyed me was the auto-refund with zero explanation and a note about refunds taking up to 10 days. Not great. Service felt a bit robotic, but the product does what it should and looks nicer than in the pics. So yeah, not perfect, but I’m still glad I bought it.
