Neighbor tipped me, glad I listened
I first spotted Ann's Cottage on my neighbor's Instagram and told my sister to try it — glad I did. Order arrived on time, packaging a bit squished but they fixed it fast after I messaged. Daisy and Grace were friendly, efficient, and honestly made the whole thing feel way less stressful.
Beachside parking bait
I popped in for shorts and thought, sure, five minutes. I was already skeptical — parking apps have tricked me before. The pay machine refused my card. The app froze. No pay, no ticket, so I left. A week later a £100 fine lands in the mail. They call it camera evidence. Appeals went nowhere and then they wanted £170. Felt like a trap you walk into. Customer service from the car park operator felt cold and dismissive, Ann’s Cottage didn’t seem to help much either. Delivery of the wetsuit itself was fine, staff in-store were decent, but the aftercare and parking situation left a bad taste. Would I go back? Maybe, but I’d park elsewhere next time.

Funny thing, I only heard about the shop because a mate tipped me off — my daughter went to Polzeath to buy a wetsuit and spent about £240. Two weeks later a parking ticket drops through the door saying she “overstayed” because she apparently entered eight minutes before buying the ticket. The fine wanted £100 or £60 if paid quick. We tried contacting Ann’s Cottage and the parking company — basically no proper answers, just automated stuff. Delivery of the notice was effective, customer service was not. So yeah, the shop itself was fine, but their parking/enforcement left a bad taste. I’d park at the council lot and tell friends the same.
Not coming back to the Bude shop
I won't be shopping at their Bude store again. I’ve used Ann’s Cottage online for ages and that part has mostly been fine, but the in-store visit changed my mind. The staff shadowed us around the racks, gave off a really unwelcoming vibe, and it felt more like being watched than greeted — not what I expect from any surf shop. If you care about repeat customers someone upstairs should read the reviews. The clothes themselves looked okay and the online ordering was fine, so I’m grateful it wasn’t worse, but overall the experience here was poor and a bit intimidating. I’ll stick to buying online from other places now. I’ve seen worse elsewhere, just saying.
Little mixed bag, but I like it
lightweight, sits flat against my ankle, the chain doesn't twist and the clasp feels secure — comfy enough to wear all day. What annoyed me was the auto-refund with zero explanation and a note about refunds taking up to 10 days. Not great. Service felt a bit robotic, but the product does what it should and looks nicer than in the pics. So yeah, not perfect, but I’m still glad I bought it.

Threadbare confidence

Within weeks the black logo circles started peeling off, the inner lining separated from the neoprene and one ankle seam split — yeah, split. I contacted Ann’s Cottage and got the classic “misuse” reply, which felt off. We’ve had countless wetsuits — C-Skins, O’Neill, Alder, even hand-me-down kids’ ones that survived five years and three kids — so we know how to care for them. Is it totally useless? Not exactly, it still kinda works for a session or two, but it’s clearly not built to last. I even recommended the shop to a mate before this, so that’s awkward. Bottom line: disappointing, a bit shoddy, and I won’t be buying Billabong or from Ann’s Cottage again.
Clothing item
I just have to say, my experience at Anns Cottage was amazing. The staff there really knew their stuff and were super helpful in helping me find the perfect piece of clothing. Even though the item didn't fit quite right, getting a refund was quick and easy. The team at Anns Cottage really knows how to take care of their customers. You can tell they care about making sure everyone has a great shopping experience.
Overpriced and low quality item
I bought something not too long ago that ended up being way overpriced. When I tried to send it back, the cost of postage ate into my refund, so I basically lost money on a really crappy product. Such a rip-off for what I paid.

I just got this really awesome surfing t-shirt from here and it fits perfectly! The quality is so good, I would definitely suggest this store to all my surfing buddies.
Dr Martens size 6.5 boots
I was so excited to finally find the right size online because it's hard to find half sizes in stores! I ordered it late at night and it was shipped out the next day with Tracked Mail. My boots came really quickly and were wrapped up nicely. The customer service was amazing and even though I'm not local, I would definitely buy from them online again.

I just got a wetsuit for my daughter, who's a competitive swimmer. The ordering part was easy, and my order came fast. The wetsuit was packed nicely, but it ended up being too small for my daughter. I absolutely love the pink slippers I bought from this store! They are so adorable and comfy, just what I was looking for.
