Airline tickets
I recently booked a last minute ticket for air flights to attend my father's funeral. I paid 4 times as much as I normally pay but got good connections thru Edreams. Raced to the airport only to find that my flight had been cancelled due to low bookings. Not the fault of Edreams, I understand. But there I am at the airport, trying to get to a funeral, and they offer nothing. No alternatives, no other flights or anything. After several frustrating hours in between contacting family to change/hold funeral arrangements, Edreams finally conceeded that they could do nothing for me and offered me a refund less a substantial cancellation fee. Huh? I didn't cancel, I wanted to be on my way. They were unable to deliver on the flights they sold and I already paid for, and I need to pay a fee? Talked to supervisor(s) and finally, a week or so later, got Edreams to agree to a full refund which took over a week to show on my credit card. I am aware that travel has changes (weather, delays, etc) which no one can control. But, with good customer service, usually alternatives can be found which are workable. In this case, Edreams offered nothing, no ideas, no different airlines or flights, no later rebooking...nada. And I had to fight to get my money back. The story has a somewhat happy ending - my nephew knows an airline pilot who got me standby tickets on several flights and I got to the funeral after all, with 20 minutes to spare and it was $1400 less. My point in telling this is that the seats were actually available, just that EDreams could not get them for me and someone different could, at far less money. I would never book Edreams again, no matter what low price they dangle.
