I recently bought four sets of plants from this company. The dwarf lilies and day lilies I got were good, but the phlox and cannas didn't grow at all. It was a bummer to see that only half of my order turned out okay. I think I'll try a different store next time I need to buy plants.
Flower bulb purchase
As someone who bought some flower bulbs, I have to admit that I was really impressed with the quality of what I got. The bulbs were super fresh and packed up nicely, so they showed up in great shape. They had a wide range of flowers to pick from, which gave me a lot of choices for my garden. I liked how they gave thorough descriptions for each type of bulb too, it made it easier for me to figure out what I wanted to get. All in all, I'm super happy with the flower bulbs I got.
Dahlia bulbs
I've been growing flowers for a while now, and I've dealt with a lot of companies in the industry. But let me tell you, my recent experience with this company after buying some dahlia bulbs has been a total disaster. I shelled out nearly $600 on those bulbs, only for every single one to show up all rotted. I gave them all the proof they asked for and they said they'd give me my money back, but it's been 4 months and I haven't seen a penny. Their customer service is just awful, full of excuses and they keep dragging their feet. It's like a never-ending loop of messing up and lying. I depend on top-notch products to make a living, and this whole situation has me feeling frustrated and lied to. I recommend anyone thinking about buying from this company to go elsewhere and find more trustworthy options.
Large bulbs/roots
The bulbs and roots I got from here were huge and looked really healthy when they showed up. The delivery was a little late, but no big deal. One of the roots, the peony, had some mold on it, but I managed to clean it off and plant it with no problems. Surprisingly, everything ended up growing, even the one with mold at first. Besides the peonies, I also got some "Tiny Double You" lilies, and the bulbs were big and looked ready to go. Overall, I was super happy with the quality and how well everything grew, and I'd definitely buy from them again.
Flower bulbs and gardening supplies
I've been a customer for a long time and I just have to say, I'm really disappointed with the recent changes at the company. The products aren't as good as they used to be, and it's harder to find what I want. I've had to order from other companies that are connected to them, and honestly, it hasn't been a great experience. It seems like the main company's changes have made things worse for customers like me. The service isn't as good, and the products aren't always available. Plus, the delivery process has been a mess - I've had to wait a long time and deal with issues from the shipping company. It's really a bummer to see this company I used to love go downhill like this.
Online order experience
I recently placed an order online and unfortunately, the experience was not great. From the moment I placed the order to when I finally decided to cancel it, I faced multiple issues that left me frustrated. It all started with the shipping estimate given on the website, which kept changing and pushing the delivery date further away. This lack of clear information was concerning, especially since I was expecting a quick delivery based on what was initially stated. When I reached out to the company for clarification, their response did not address my concerns about the delay. The shipping policy on their website seemed misleading and lacked transparency and good communication with customers. In the end, I had no choice but to cancel my order because I felt like I was being deceived and disappointed by the whole process.
Bare peony root purchase
I recently bought a bare peony root from this company, and let me tell you, it was a great experience! The delivery was super quick, and I was so happy to find some narcissus bulbs thrown in as a bonus. The peony root was top-notch quality, and I could tell that the folks who packed my order really knew their stuff. All in all, I'm thrilled with my purchase and definitely would recommend this company to anyone out there looking for some new plants.
Summer bulbs
I just bought some summer bulbs from this company to jazz up my garden, but I was super bummed by how late they arrived. Now I'm worried they won't have enough time to grow and bloom properly in my area. I reached out to customer service right away to ask for a refund for the rest of my order, but all I got was a generic reply that didn't really address my issues. Overall, I'm really disappointed with the service I got from this company, and I won't be buying from them in the future.

You have taken my money out of my account, gave me a process date 2 weeks out for tulips bulbs in late October.

Only order bulbs. Plant starts and bare root plants arrive DEAD. Shipment arrives 13 days after shipment with very little sawdust in the heat of September. Yup, dead plants. So they give me a credit towards a future purchase and I order something different hoping that it would survive the shipping but no - more dead plants. I do plant them right away and give them proper care - but still dead. I do a lot of gardening and I have found other companies who know how to ship live plants that look great when they arrive. So don't waste your time and money with Van Bourgondien.
Daffodils and other bulbs
Decades ago this was a good company. I literally bought thousands of bulbs and plants from them without a mishap. Times have changed and so has this company and its sister company Dutch bulbs. In 2021 my order arrived, though it arrived much later than the promised date. When the plants came up in the spring, it was clear that the wrong bulbs were packed in the packages. Everything was wrong. This year, October 23 I still have not received my order that should have shipped a month ago. To top it off, I just received an email that one of the specialty bulbs that was the reason for the order is now out of stock. Out of stock? I placed the order on April 11. I will do without the special bulbs that I have not been able to find elsewhere. Never again will I order from this company.
Bare root shooting star
It took 16 days in summer heat to deliver shipment of bare root plants. Upon arrival, all five were severely desiccated. Only two were recognizable from packing material. Prompt care managed to only revive one. Of course, they are now out of stock, along with three other items in my original order (a month for them to figure out that they couldn’t fulfill my order). Too late now to order from other suppliers.
The problem is they would not fill my order three different times due to I was only ordering deep discounted sale items
I tried ordering three times, three different ways, such as with paypal and credit cards and all three time, over a week period, they would say the order did not go through. It is because I was only ordering deep discounted sale items. If I had ordered a bunch of other higher price items along with the order it would have went through. Deceitful practices.
daylilly bulbs
ordered for Florida garden in feb. called in April said they would ship. called again end of April they are giving me an even later ship date. will never buy here again. they said would ship when appropriate for shipping zone. again im in Florida.
Calla Lilies and Cone flowers
I placed an order for mixed color Calla Lilly bulbs. I took extra care preparing the bed. When they arrived, I planted them the next day. I was less than happy with the bulbs. Some were smaller than a pea. Only the larger bulbs took. I sent a complaint in and got a half credit and half of the replacement bulbs. These didn't fare much better. Since I had a credit to use, I ordered some Cone flower roots. I was even more disappointed in these. I only got 3 decent roots out of 8. Two of them was like a blade of grass with one hair root. How can anyone sell something this inferior for more than five dollars each? Only two of these took. I will never buy anything off of this nursery again. I will be better off buying locally.

I ordered 152.00 worth of assorted plants, from Gladiolus Blue Isle to Begonias to some special Dahlias that I was really looking forward to. The estimated ship date was Feb 15. Well, the weather here in the South Central U.S. has been REALLY warm and I started receiving items from KvB's competitors. I actually received ALL of the items I ordered from other websites, but no delivery. I called their call center in some foreign land to be told "We put your order on "rush." "Every day I'd go the website to see that the delivery estimate had been pushed back another day. This went on for a month and a half. I have called three times since March 1 and it is now March 28. Spring is HERE and my plants are not. So KvB has had my money since December and it is March 28 and I have 152.00 of plants in limbo and they STILL can't tell me when they will be shipped. I cancelled my order with deep regret and I advice everyone NOT to patronize this business. It has truly been a rotten experience, but it could be worse. For instance: they could not refund my cc in a timely manner. I'll let you all know.

I placed an order and paid for it back in April than in October I checked the order several time and it said product was in stock and for some reason they were shipping it out in multiple shipment. However the last line that did not ship I got notified that they had cancelled my order. Again it is a bait and switch where they have you money and you never get the product. what a scam.
FERNLEAF BLEEDING HEART MIX
I should have read the reviews here before purchasing. Of the six different plant I ordered earlier in the year, only one showed any sign of life. And the last plant was to be shipped in the fall. I just received notice that it was being shipped today, Oct 30, to upstate NY. We've already had two frosts, and so my expectations are very low. As a new customer, I'd say to others, don't waste your money..
Fall Bulbs
I ordered bulbs in the Fall 2020, very carefully reading the website before I placed the order because there are so many COVID delays. Their website indicated that bulbs would be shipped in time for fall planting. I waited & waited... I finally contacted them and magically they shipped that day. By the time my order arrived, there was already snow on the ground. Snow melted, I planted. Not everything grew (surprise, surprise). so I contacted them for replacement, per their policy. They put my order in for replacement plants to ship in the fall in June. They are now saying it is backordered until November. Yes- repeat of last year- there will be snow on the ground again!! Maybe they were a good company before COVID, maybe not. However, they are promising orders that they cannot fullfill and it seems to be their standard practice, not just a COVID thing from what I am reading. I definitely will never order from them again!
